After such a great season, Seattle are heading to the postseason in some of their worst form all year. They've won just one of their last seven games, including back-to-back defeats to Oakland at big odds over the past two days. The most troubling thing about this run is the lack of one of the basic fundamentals: getting bat on ball. They're batting at just a .192 avg over their last 10 games, in contrast to a .225 mark overall on the season. That's translated to a lack of runs, notching no more than 1 run in four of their last five games - even where they've faced subpar pitching that struggling teams such as the Athletics and Angels have within their rotation. Given the circumstances, the A's have the momentum and they are nice plus money odds to keep things tight.

Speaking of teams that are having problems scoring runs - there's no team colder in the MLB this week than the Cards. St. Louis have score just one run in their last four games, COMBINED. They've been shutout in two straight games against the Padres over the last two days, and their quest to break the drought will be just as difficult this afternoon with Joe Musgrove (10-7, 3.16 ERA) on the bump for the Friars. The value here is in the under.

Cubs vs. Pirates, 6:35PM ET

Pittsburgh return home for a series with the Cubs after a midweek battery in New York at the hands of the Mets and Yankees who beat them by a collective 26 runs over the course of four games. Things don't get a whole lot easier against a frisky Chicago tonight, with the Bucs sending in a relatively weak pitcher in Mitch Keller (5-11, 4.03 ERA) to start. The Cubs are an up-and-down team, but they can frustrate the out-of-form Pirates.
