What are NHL player prop trends?
NHL player prop trends show how often a player has gone over or under a specific prop line in several recent appearances.
Dimers’ NHL betting trends show who keeps doing the same thing and how much.
Each NHL player trend is assigned a star rating out of five (indicating its reliability) alongside a supporting success rate.
At the bottom of each trend, you'll see the player's prop line and a direct link to that market from the sportsbook or prediction market offering the best odds.
The NHL player trends we track
- Goal scorer trends: Skaters lighting the lamp consistently, for anytime goal scorer and first goal scorer betting markets.
- Shots on goal trends: Players firing off pucks on target game after game, a steady trend since shot volume can move less than finishing.
- Assist trends: Playmakers setting up teammates at a dependable rate.
- Points trends: Goals and assists combined, which is most affected by linemates and power play time.
Our trends are based only on skater offensive production. Goalie and defensive markets are not covered.
How to use Dimers’ NHL player trends
Each trend card gives you the context around a player consistently going over or under a specific prop line:
- Player: Who the trend applies to and their upcoming matchup.
- Prop line: The exact market, such as 0.5 anytime goals or 2.5 shots on goal.
- Recent results: How often the player has cleared or missed that line in recent appearances.
- Sample size: How many appearances the trend is based on.
- Star rating: The quality of the trend's probability and value.
- Market: The link to the best available price for the prop.
Three trends are free for all users, with the full board reserved for Dimers Pro members.
How Dimers builds an NHL trend
A trend starts as a pattern in a player’s recent game log: the same market, cleared the same way, often enough to be worth naming. We then check it against the price the market is offering on that player tonight.
The star rating out of five reflects that comparison, not the length of the streak on its own. A player who has hit five in a row at a price that already assumes he will hit again rates lower than a shorter run that the books have not caught up with.
Trends can include data from previous seasons, which matters most in October when the new season’s sample is still small. The hit rate shown with each trend tells you what the run is built on.
These are patterns, not projections. A seven-for-ten run does not make the eighth a good bet on its own; it makes it worth checking against the price.
Our NHL Player Props list the best available props for each game, along with edge ratings and probabilities for each pick. Pairing our props and trends helps you make prop picks backed by value and a meaningful recent sample size.
Tips for using our NHL betting trends for player props
- Look at the sample before the streak: Three games is noise. Eight to ten is a pattern worth a second look. The sample size shows you the level of consistency in a player hitting a prop.
- Check what the price already knows: A winger on a five-game goal streak will usually be shorter than he was a week ago. The question is whether the price has moved further than the run justifies, which is what the star rating is weighing.
- Read the game the trend has to survive: Ice time, linemates, power play deployment, and the opposing goalie all move a prop more than momentum does. A shots-on-goal run built against two of the league’s worst defensive teams is a different proposition against a shutdown pair.
- Treat a hit rate as a hit rate: A trend that has hit 7 times in 10 is a 70% run, and a prop priced at -150 needs roughly 60% to break even. That is the arithmetic worth doing before the bet.
- Stack carefully: Two trends from the same game are usually correlated: a center's points and his winger’s goals rise and fall together. For help building wise parlays, you can set the number of legs and the level of risk you want with our NHL Parlay Picker.
No trend predicts the next game. These show you where a pattern exists and what the market is charging for it.

Responsible gambling
Prop betting makes it easy to keep finding one more bet, because there is always another player and another market. A streak is a reason to look at a price, not a reason to bet more often than you planned. Set a limit before the puck drops and stay inside it, treat a losing bet as money spent rather than something to win back on the next one, and only bet what you can afford to lose.
If gambling is causing harm for you or someone close to you, our responsible gambling page has support services and self-exclusion options.
Your Questions Answered
What are the most important NHL player trends for betting?
There’s no universally applicable player trend, but it’s wise to begin with long sample sizes. If a top winger like David Pastrnak has consistently exceeded his shots on goal in the last four games and is now facing a weak defensive team. That’s a trend to consider. Look deep in the lineup for value, consistency, and an edge before the general public reacts.
Where can I bet on the player trends I find here?
Visit our NHL Player Props for the up-to-date lines and markets tailored to our NHL betting trends. You can also use the NHL Parlay Picker to see what trends our model is including in a multi-leg bet.
Does Dimers cover defensive player trends?
Dimers’ NHL player trends currently cover skaters, including scoring, assists, shots on goal, and points. Defensive team and player trends, including goalie saves, are on our radar for future updates.
What are NHL betting trends?
An NHL betting trend is a repeated result worth pricing against. Most are team trends, like a club’s record against the puck line at home or how often a matchup goes over the total. Dimers trends are player trends: how often an individual skater has cleared the same goal, shot, assist, or points number in recent games, shown with the hit rate behind the run.
Does Dimers show NHL public betting trends?
No. We do not show bet percentages, handle splits, or public money. Our trends are built from player performance, and each one is rated against the current prop price rather than against where the public is sitting.
What is an NHL player prop trend?
A player prop trend is a run of games in which the same player has hit the same prop. A winger with three or more shots on goal in six straight games is a shots-on-goal trend. We show the run, the hit rate, the current line, and the sportsbook or prediction market pricing it best.
How often do NHL trends update?
Trends refresh through the day as lines move and lineups are confirmed, so a trend’s rating can change between the morning and puck drop without the streak itself changing. The run behind a trend only changes once a game has been played.
Are NHL trends a good way to bet?
NHL player trends are an extra resource for researching prop bets. They tell you a pattern exists, and you make the call on whether or not the price makes it worth backing.
How many games make an NHL trend reliable?
Eight to ten games gives you something a three-game run does not. Short streaks in hockey are common because goals are rare and randomly distributed. A shot-on-goal run over ten games says more about a player’s role than a two-game goal streak does about his finishing.
Where can I bet the NHL trends I find here?
Each trend shows the market and the sportsbook offering the best price on it at the time you are looking. Our NHL Odds compares lines across the major books, so you can check the same market elsewhere before betting.
Does Dimers cover NHL team trends?
For team-level context, our NHL Predictions provide win, puck line, and total probabilities for every game, which reflect the model’s assessment of the same questions that a team trend typically addresses.
