No, Tiger Woods Isn't Playing This Week; Here's Why
Tiger Woods will not be teeing it up at the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. The 15-time major champion continues to recover from surgery on his Achilles tendon and is not yet ready to return to full-time competition. As a result, fans hoping to see Woods in action at one of golf’s most storied venues will have to wait a bit longer.
Woods has a rich history at the PGA Championship, having won the event four times (1999, 2000, 2006, 2007). He’s also no stranger to Quail Hollow, capturing the 2007 Wells Fargo Championship at the Charlotte-based course. But as his comeback remains on pause, the focus now turns to a new wave of contenders.
Who Is Playing—and Who Could Win?
In Woods’ absence, the PGA Championship field remains stacked. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler enters the week fresh after skipping the Truist Championship, looking to secure his first major title outside Augusta. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy—still glowing from his Masters victory—returns to a course where he's won three times.
