NCAA March Madness - The Winners and Losers of the Opening Weekend

The opening two rounds of this year's NCAA Tournament was a gambling marathon. Now, as we take a moment to catch our breath, it's time to look at some of the biggest winners and losers from the weekend that was.

Given it's March, there's no doubt you're looking to bet on some College Hoops over the coming weeks? Well, our new Dimers Pro service is here to help!

Tap below to read all about it.

LOSER: Mattress Mack

Very rarely can you write a winners and losers piece without including one of the worst gamblers in the world. Texan billionaire Mattress Mack was at it again pre-tournament, placing a $1M wager on the winner of the NCAA Title to come from the East Region with Caesars Sportsbook at odds of +260.

Well, things couldn't have gone much worse for Mack, with No. 1 and 2 seeds in the East, Baylor and Kentucky, not lasting the first four days. He is now relying on the likes of Purdue (+1200) or UCLA (+1800) to cut down the nets come April 4.

Think someone in one of next weekend's Sweet Sixteen or Elite 8 games will hit a three-pointer? Then, BetMGM has the offer for you!

WINNER: Peacocks Bettors

Staying in the East, and without question the story of the weekend has been Saint Peter's. After shocking Kentucky in the First Round, they backed it up with yet another stoic performance against Ja Morant's former team, Murray State, to move onto the Sweet Sixteen. The Peacocks are +10000 to go on and win it all, but for a team that was +50000 pre-tournament with FanDuel Sportsbook, anyone that holds a futures ticket can already cash out for a handsome profit. Or maybe let it ride?

LOSER: Rich Guys

In addition to Matress Mack, it wasn't a great weekend for rich guys all round with multiple huge bets all coming up short.

One bettor with DraftKings Sportsbook dropped 100-large on Wisconsin to cover the spread in their Round of 32 game against Iowa State. But unfortunately for him, the Badgers couldn't even win, let alone cover.

Elsewhere, a bettor in Arizona will be tasting a tinge of regret to go along with his morning coffee on Monday after he lost $110,000 on Kansas to cover the spread in their Second Round game against Creighton. Unlike Wisconsin, the Jayhawks were able to win the game, but it didn't come easy, resulting in a big time loss.

WINNER: Parlay Bettors

I mean, who doesn't love a parlay, right? With 48 games to bet on over the opening four days of the tournament, it would be almost be a disservice to gambling to NOT put on a super long shot parlay. As always, we saw some crazy hits on big lays during opening weekend, including one bettor who turned $10 into more than $8000 with a combination of college and NBA picks, as well as another player who went 7-for-7 during Saturday's Second Round games.
