NCAA March Madness 2022 - Sweet Sixteen Futures Update and Odds

Before the 2022 Tourney began, we listed four futures bets that we liked, with two still alive and one already cashing! Let's check in to see what the BOT likes from here on in.

March Madness 2022 Futures Picks

Before the Madness got underway, these were the four bets that we suggested you make to cash in down the line!

• Gonzaga Bulldogs to Win the National Title (+350) 📈
• Baylor Bears to Make the Final Four (+240) ❌
• Houston Cougars to Make the Elite Eight (+350) 📈
• UCLA Bruins to Make the Sweet Sixteen (-144) ✅

Gonzaga Bulldogs

BET: To Win the National Title (+350)

Interestingly, the Zags Championship probability hasn't changed too much since the start of the tournament (34.4% to 34.9%), but this can be put down to them being such short favorites to win their first two matchups. 

As above, our futures model has the Zags as a 34.9% chance of winning it all this year, which actually still gives us a nice edge on the +225 odds that we're seeing at most books.

If you want to root for the best team in the country over the next two weekends, but don't really want to bet on their -400 moneyline next round (who does?), then you could do a lot worse than throw some money down on this play.

• Sportsbooks' implied probability (+225 odds): 30.8%

Even after two wins, there is a discrepency between our probabilities and those of the sportsbooks, so Gonzaga is still a BET 🔥

Houston Cougars

BET: To Make the Final Four (+1200)

Before the tournament started, the Cougars were providing the biggest and best edge in futures bets, with the 'BOT actually rating them as the seventh best chance to cut down the nets, despite their odds being as long as +4000 with some books!

Although it was tempting to make that pick back then, we suggested taking them to make the Elite Eight, which they're now just win win away from!

For those of you that missed out on the pre-tournament Elite Eight odds, our new suggested play is to take them to make the Final Four.

• Sportsbooks' Implied probability (+200 odds): 33.3%

So if you missed this initial bet on the Cougars to make the Elite Eight, getting on them to either win the South Region or even the whole thing would still be a BET 🔥

UCLA Bruins

BET: To Make the Final Four (+220)

The first futures bet that we've hit this tournament came in the form of the Bruins making it past the second round, now we're looking to cash in even further!

The biggest edge our model has found for this round is on UCLA to make it to the Final Four, with the likelihood a whole lot higher on our end than the sportsbooks' are saying.
