Epic NBA Playoffs Gambling Story: Four Players Turn $37 into $48,000 For Philly Bettor

Any bettor will tell you that on some nights, landing a straight up four-team parlay is hard enough, nevertheless trying to cash that same parlay with some improbable player props thrown in for good measure. But that’s exactly what this week’s feature gambler of the week did when he threw $37 on an NBA Player Performance Double parlay and turned it into almost $48,000.
@Larrylocks8, better known as Live Bet Larry via Twitter, started the NBA playoffs with a bang this year when he pieced together an all-time epic win. However, unlike some props bettors who spend hours studying stat lines or watching game film, Larry’s parlay came together in record time.

“The parlay I hit, I made in three minutes,” said the 27-year old, whose online moniker comes from a pandemic spent watching episodes of Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.
That hastily made bet, thrown together on June 2 during the first round of the NBA playoffs, consisted of four selections, primarily from the increasingly popular Player Performances Doubles market on FanDuel Sportsbook which allows bettors to combine the outcome of a game with a set player performance prop. Included in the wager was a Ben Simmons Triple Double to go along with the 76ers win (yes, we know it's hard to believe Ben Simmons actually had a hand in someone winning $48k), Atlanta’s Trae Young to sink three three-pointers and to overcome the New York Knicks, Luka Doncic to sink at least 40 points against the Clippers, and finally, Donovan Mitchell to get a 30-piece in a Utah win against the Grizzlies.

Recounting the logic behind his massive bet, Larry, who has been betting for the last eight years, remembers how the dominoes fell into place that night.
“Embiid was out (of Game 5 vs. the Wizards), so I knew Ben Simmons should go off. He got the Triple Double with about 29 seconds left in the game,” the Pennsylvanian said.
“I knew the Hawks were going to win which meant Trae had to play well. (Atlanta) were up by about 15 points with 3 minutes left in the third when he hit his third dagger three.”
Even though this story did eventuate in a happy ending when Luka Doncic passed by 40 points late in the third quarter of the Mavs' game against LA to cash the fourth and final selection in his parlay, it was what was going on in Salt Lake City around 30 minutes earlier that almost turned this bet to dust as the Jazz and Grizzlies did battle in Game 5 of their first round matchup.
With Utah smelling blood in the water and a series closeout beckoning, Donovan Mitchell poured in 26 first-half points as the Jazz headed to the locker room with a 24-point lead.

“I’m like ‘Wow okay, we have life’”, Larry said.
But then something terrible happened. In the third quarter, with the game all but sewn up for Utah and Mitchell oh so close to the magic number 30, he could only muster two points total for the period, resulting in every basketball bettors worst nightmare: the blowout.

With 3:23 minutes left in the third and the Jazz leading by 31, Mitchell was sent to the bench by coach Quin Synder. Stranded on 28 points, seemingly done for the night and with almost $48,000 gone begging, it’s little wonder how our man felt.
“No way he goes back in. I’m devastated,” recalled Larry of the third quarter benching.
The ride wasn’t over yet. The Grizzlies began the fourth quarter strong, going on a 7-2 run that was enough to concern Synder who immediately called his star guard back out onto the court. However, it was heartbreak yet again as Mitchell failed to sink a bucket before being pulled for the second time with 7:05 remaining. But once more, the Grizzlies immediately rallied with a treble of shots from deep to get Spida on the court with four minutes left for one more chance.
Finally, with 2:48 remaining on the clock, Mitchell had his 30 and Larry had his money. $47,792.16 to be exact.

“Amazing feeling off a $37 bet,”
Like a past feature article subject, @TheMisterMarcus, Larry is in the process of buying a new home and will use his winnings from the bet to make the down payment.
In addition to posting free plays for his steady base of Twitter followers, Larry also has a dedicated VIP service where his mission is clear: to help bettors become better gamblers in the long-term.
“The game is designed for you to lose. You need to be smart and know how to handle wins AND losses,” he said.
“I preach (to my clients) when we win, take out the money and start over. Fresh mindset or you’ll give it right back. If you just parlay all the time you’ll lose all of your money so fast."
Larry is just one of the many success stories of bettors who are having their lives changed by sports betting and are contributing positively to the online community to help better others. We’re looking forward to seeing what he has lined up for the NBA Finals!
