US Open Best Bets: Top Tennis Picks for Tuesday

Matteo Berrettini vs. Casper Ruud - Day session (scheduled for 12:00PM ET)

There's a lot at stake for Ruud in this tournament, as he now has a real chance at winning it all and also becoming the world No. 1. It is, however, yet to be seen whether or not he really deals with pressure well at this point in his career. Ruud was rolled by Rafael Nadal in the biggest match of his career, which was the French Open final back in June. Now, he must find a way to beat a player that is a tough match-up for him in New York.

While Ruud is 3-2 in his career against Berrettini, the Italian is actually 1-0 in their hard-court meetings. A big part of that has to be attributed to Berrettini's serve, which is one of the best in the world. He has an absolute rocket of a first serve, and that can be really hard to get back on a faster court. And that is ultimately why we believe Berrettini is going to go through here.

Not only is Ruud unproven when the matches matter the most, but he is also merely an above-average server. That means that he could give Berrettini a few chances to break, and the same can't be said about the other way around. With that said, the value here is just too hard to pass up. Berrettini was one of the better value plays to go all the way before this tournament started and the window has really opened up with Nadal and Daniil Medvedev having been eliminated.

PICK: Berrettini To Win, which you can get at +100 with DraftKings

Ons Jabeur vs. Ajla Tomljanovic - Day session (scheduled for 2:00PM ET)

Jabeur is one of the best players left in the field on the women's side, but it just seems crazy to see such a reasonable price attached to Tomjlanovic winning a set in this match. The Australian has put together a really impressive run in New York thus far, as she backed up her win over an in-form Serena Williams with a victory over Liudmila Samsonova, who was the hottest player in the world entering the US Open, by far.

Tomjlanovic doesn't have any wildly advantageous weapons, but she is a great mover and gets a lot of balls in play. She has also already shown that she isn't afraid of high-leverage situations, as she was able to overcome an insane crowd to beat Serena and then took a very tight tiebreaker in her win against Samsonova, who had looked unbreakable in the months leading up to this one.

Jabeur really should go through to the next round, but we just can't rule out Tomljanovic and want to be on her side here. This remarkable run she's on doesn't quite feel like it's ready to end, but she'll go down swinging even if she is bounced in this round.

PICK: Tomljanovic To Win A Set, which you can get at -140 with DraftKings.

Karen Khachanov vs. Nick Kyrgios - Night session (scheduled for 8:30PM ET)

Once again, it appears that Khachanov just isn't getting any respect from the oddsmakers, so we're paying up a little and just taking him to grab a set in this meeting with Kyrgios. While the Australian is playing some of the best tennis of his career right now, the Russian also happens to be looking pretty impressive in The Big Apple.

While Khachanov went the distance against Pablo Carreno Busta last match, we did see him reach a pretty remarkable level in three of those five sets. And considering he can really dial it in with his serve, it just wouldn't be surprising if he and Kyrgios end up playing a few tiebreakers in this match. If that's the case, you'd have to think Khachanov will win at least one.

These two have met twice on hard courts in their careers, with Khachanov winning a best-of-three match in Cincinnati between the two in 2019 and Kyrgios winning in five sets when they clashed in the 2020 Australian Open. This is obviously a different version of Kyrgios that we're seeing right now, but is he really this much better than the Russian? Khachanov has a really complete game and he and Kyrgios have a little bad blood. You would think that would also get him going a little bit and leave him wanting to give this a real go. Let's go bigger on this one.

PICK: Khachanov To Win A Set (2 units), which you can get at -175 with DraftKings.
