US Open Best Bets: Top Tennis Picks for Tuesday

Pedro Martinez vs. Christopher Eubanks - Day session (scheduled for 4:00PM ET)

Martinez is just 18-21 in 2022 and he's a lousier 14-19 in hard-court matches in his career. With that in mind, he's in prime position to be upset here and that's why the oddsmakers have tabbed Eubanks, the 145th-ranked player in the world, a favorite over the world No. 54.

Eubanks' big serve is what should give him the edge in this match-up as he has an 89.9% hold percentage in his eight tour-level matches in 2022. That's an absurdly high number and it's just hard to see him having much trouble winning his service games against Martinez. And while Eubanks isn't much of a returner, Martinez only has a hold percentage of 74.3% this year. With that in mind, even weak returners see their opportunities against the Spaniard.

It should also be noted that these two met in the 2019 Australian Open qualifiers, when Eubanks earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over Martinez. These conditions should be pretty similar to those and they definitely favor the American. The only question here is whether or not Eubanks can get it done in a best-of-five match. But we're banking on him being able to figure it out, especially with the crowd behind him.

PICK: Eubanks to win, which you can get at -135 with DraftKings.

Marcos Giron vs. Frances Tiafoe - Day session (scheduled for 6:00PM ET)

This match will feature a battle between two guys that fight hard and try to grind out wins from the baseline, but one of them just does it significantly better than the other. With that in mind, we think Tiafoe should get the job done against Giron in four sets or less.

These two players met on clay back in May, when Tiafoe earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over his opponent. Now, Tiafoe will try to make quick work of his fellow countryman at a tournament that he has enjoyed playing in throughout his career. Tiafoe's exciting brand of tennis generally allows him to win over crowds in a big way, and we think that'll be no different on Tuesday.

Let's not overthink this one and let's simply roll with the better player here. Tiafoe should win this one with relative ease and he'll be eager to do that in order to be somewhat rested for his next match.

PICK: Giron Not To Win Two Sets, which you can get at -170 with DraftKings.

Jack Sock vs. Diego Schwartzman - Night session (scheduled for 8:30PM ET)

This is a match-up that just presents incredible value, as Sock is a fan favorite that should have a significant advantage in power over his opponent. And with the American being such a big underdog, it's just a no-brainer to back him at these odds.

Schwartzman is generally a nightmare to play against, as he is a feisty competitor and plays some of the best defense on the ATP Tour. But this has been a really rough year for the Argentinean, who has won just 59.2% of his matches. That winning percentage would be the lowest Schwartzman has turned in since 2018, and his 69.6% hold percentage would be the lowest he's had since 2015. That inability to hold serve easily will be tough to overcome against Sock, who appears to be turning a corner in 2022 and happens to be a very good serve-and-volley player.

The one issue here is that Sock's fitness hasn't been in the best place in recent years, but he appears to be in better shape this season. As long as he can get the job done before a potential fifth set, this is a great Day 2 bet.

PICK: Sock +4.5 Games (full unit) & Sock To Win (half-unit), which you can get at +170 with DraftKings.

Naomi Osaka vs. Danielle Collins - Night session (scheduled for 9:00PM ET)

It's hard to know which version of Osaka you're getting whenever she's on the court, but we don't know much more about her opponent in this one. Collins has played only eight matches since these two met in the Miami Open quarterfinals back in March and she is just 3-5 in those matches — with losses in each of her last three.

Osaka has played even less than Collins since that last meeting in South Beach, but she did win that match 6-2, 6-1 in only 59 minutes. It was an absolute dismantling, with Osaka's serve looking untouchable and the four-time Grand Slam champion also looking far too powerful for her opponent from the baseline.

This one comes with a bit more risk than the others, but it's just hard to see Collins having much confidence when she gets out there in this one. And Osaka should be somewhat amped up for a change, as she'll get to play in front of a great night crowd in New York. The fans will be in her corner and hoping to see some great tennis from her.

PICK: Osaka -2.5 Games, which you can get at -130 with DraftKings.
