TOUR Championship Golf Preview: Odds, Picks and Predictions

Finn from the Tail and Print Podcast previews this week's TOUR Championship, providing free picks from this week's edition.

Welcome back everyone to the final tournament preview of the 2020-2021 PGA Tour Season. This week we return as always to East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta with the Top-30 golfers left as we crown the FedEx Cup Champion and with it a nice 15 million dollar paycheck. While I know it's very cliche these days to attach a β€œbest ever” or β€œGOAT” to anything and anyone, but this season just may actually live up to the billing.

There was the moment when the entire golf world felt helpless and sorrow as we learned of the horrific car accident that Tiger was in. Luckily it looks like Tiger is on track to recover and being able to get back the use of his legs. Of course there was Bryson, who stole headlines all season not only because of his Major Championship victory at the US Open, but because of the physical transformation he put himself through.

Bryson brought back an excitement we haven’t seen in a while in golf with his ridiculously long drivers. Of course there has been his rivalry with Brooks as well. While many have known for a while that these two were not fans of one another it really came to a boiling point this season. Now it’s all that is talked about every week. The highlight of this season though no matter the outcome at East Lake will definitely be Phil’s PGA Championship victory. No one in their right mind thought Phil had a chance that week, and at 250/1 Phil was able to outlast a field where many were young enough to be his son. The scene on 18 is one that everyone will remember for a long, long time.

But all good things must come to an end, so for the final time of the 2020-2021 season let's see who DimersBOT likes this week ‡️

For those who are not aware this is how the scoring will start this week. I for one am not a fan of this. I get the idea of trying to reward the guys in the Top-5, but still. Giving a Top-30 pro a 5+ shot lead on 26 out of 30 competitors is kind of ridiculous. To me it’s hard to find anyone past Cameron Smith to bet on because of the scoring system. It’s gotta be either Rahm or Bryson with a heavy lean on Rahm.

Put a golf bet down with PointsBet, who give new customers $100 in FREE bets when they open an account and deposit just $50. Joining only takes a minute and once you've done so, you'll have $150 in your new account. How good is that!

Cantlay can obviously do it especially after what we saw last week, but also keep in mind he did things no one has ever done before on the green and to expect a repeat performance is a tall ask. Justin Thomas plays this course well but his putter has been way too inconsistent to really feel comfortable with him. Cameron Smith at +2500 to me is the best play because we have seen him play lights out and to be honest Cameron’s have treated us well this year at Tail & Print as Cameron Davis (Rocket Mortgage) and Cameron Champ (3M) provided us with our biggest paydays this season.

My top advice this week though is play the prop bets, especially the Round-1 leader with Rahm, Bryson and Finau since they have slightly better pay outs than outright winner odds. It was a blast this season and with only a week off we will be back in no time to get started on the 2021-2022 PGA Tour Season!
