PGA Tour Expert Picks: Scottish Open Predictions and Best Bets

It's time for another huge week of golf betting, with the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour coming together for the co-sanctioned Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, located outside Edinburgh, Scotland. With just one week to go until the Open Championship, a host of big names have headed to the UK to compete this week, with our best bets coming at you with outright winner plays, as well as Top-5, Top-10 and Top-20 picks.

Also, make sure you visit Dimers all golf season, where we'll be feeding you PGA best bets on a weekly basis. These PGA predictions are made thanks to our powerful predictive analytics model and our data has already pulled off some big wins in 2023.

Betting on golf is a great way to take advantage of new promotions from the sportsbooks, especially at BetMGM where new users can bet on any of these picks and get their first bet back up to $1,000 if it loses.

Who will win the 2023 Scottish Open?

Here are the five most likely winners of this week's Scottish Open, the result of simulating the tournament 10,000 times:

  WIN TOP 5 TOP 10
Scottie Scheffler 18.6% 49.5% 65.8%
Rory McIlory 9.3% 33.8% 51.2%
Patrick Cantlay 9.0% 33.1% 50.6%
Xander Schauffele 7.8% 30.3% 46.3%
Rickie Fowler 5.5% 24.0% 40.0%

Scottish Open Betting Preview

A par 70 that plays to 7,237 yards, The Renaissance Club will play host to the Scottish Open for the sixth straight time, with the reigning champion being Xander Schauffele, who has not since the 2022 version of this event.

With the Open Championship on at Royal Liverpool next week, the majority of the best PGA TOUR players are taking the course, with the number one player in the world (on both the OWGR and our in-house rankings), Scottie Scheffler, leading the line.

Best Bets to Win the Scottish Open

Scottie Scheffler (+700)

The favorite for this week, and the early second favorite for The Open, Scottie Scheffler enters the Scottish Open in some unbelievable form.

Rated as the number one golfer in the world by our ranking system, Scheffler has not finished outside the top 12 at an event since last October.

With a probability of 18.6%, the 27-year-old is twice as likely to win this week than the next best chance in Rory McIlroy and is getting bettors an edge of 6.1% when taking the +700 odds currently available.

Plus, if you bet this at DraftKings where you can add +300 to any outright winner, you take this all the way out to +1000, which increases the edge to a massive 9.1%.

Scheffler also features as a key leg in this week's Scottish Open matchups parlay, where we have used our predictive analytics model to pick five golfers to get us a +2250 parlay.

Patrick Cantlay (+1400)

Since missing the cut at the Phoenix Open, Patrick Cantlay has made 11 straight weekends, with five Top-5 finishes in that run. Now, as we get close to the final major of the year, it's time Cantlay turned this form into a win, with DimersBOT rating him as the the third best chance to do so.

At odds of +1400, our model has detected an edge of 2.3% on Cantlay to win, which would see him improve only slightly on his fourth place finish at this very tournament last year.

Best Placement Bets for the Scottish Open

Looking beyond our outright winners, we've got some placement bets to consider. In addition to these pre-tournament bets, they make good live options if you keep an eye out for DraftKings' usual daily 18% profit boosts throughout the weekend.

Xander Schauffele to Finish Top 5 (+320)

Last year's winner, Xander Schauffele is a value play across the board this week according to DimersBOT, with his +320 odds to finish in the top five the most appealing bet to make.

Schauffele has made the cut in every event this season, with the only time he didn't play the weekend being at the Sentry TOC where there is no cut line anyway.

Xander is the fourth most likely winner this week, and with five top-5 finishes to his name this season already, we're taking him to feature again at the Scottish.

Tyrrell Hatton to Finish Top 10 (+210)

Next up we have Englishman Tyrrell Hatton to finish in the top-10 at the Scottish Open.

Having made 10 straight cuts on the PGA TOUR, and with seven top-10 finishes worldwide this season, Hatton is having one of his most consistent seasons as a professional golfer.

Hatton finished T24 at this event last year, but should take confidence from the consistency of his four rounds from that very tournament.

With his national championship on next week, there's no doubt that Hatton will be looking to get himself into the best form possible.

Wyndham Clark to Finish Top 20 (+160)

The winner of last month's US Open, Wyndham Clark is in some of the best form in the world, with two wins since April seeing him catapult to 11th in our world golf rankings.

Clark has finished in the top-20 a total of 10 times this season, and at +160 odds is one of the best bets you can make this week.

He also finished T16 last year here, with a 3-under 67 on the final day shooting him up the leaderboard.

These aren't the only value plays on the board, but our selected ones based on our model's recommendations. Check out our full predictions for the Scottish Open to find your favorite plays!

Plus, don't forget to jump into our +2250 matchups parlay for the Scottish Open, which features Scheffler and Clark, as well as three more in-form golfers presenting big value this week.
