PGA Championsip Betting Preview

The second major of the season tees off this week at the PGA Championship in New York, and the world's best will be in action, as this event features the biggest names from both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf going head to head. Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm headline the field, followed by Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay and Tony Finau.

Being accurate off the tee is critical here, as is great ball-striking. We expect the best in the sport to excel on a track like this. Oak Hill as a course is extremely long, measuring right around 7,400 yards as a par 70. Distance and accuracy will be critical, which leads us to the two most valuable plays of the week.

Dimers' Golf H2H Matchup Tool compares our model's head-to-head probabilities for golfers competing in the current PGA Tour tournament. Choose your players and switch between Fair Odds or Percentages.

Best Bets to Win the PGA Championship

Our best bet to win the tournament outright is Xander Schaffele, who has been one of the most rock-solid competitors in golf for years, but is currently in fantastic form. Schauffele finished solo 2nd at Quail Hollow in his last appearance, but his two tournaments prior to that both resulted in top-10s, including a 4th-place finish at the RBC Heritage.

Xander is a weakness-free golfer, which is critical in a major at a course like this. He's arguably playing better than anyone in the sport, and at over double the odds of Scheffler and Rahm, this is clearly the best bet pre-tournament to win outright. DimersBOT gives Xander a 7.1% probability of winning the tournament, making him the third favorite (behind Rahm and Scheffler, but with way more juice for your squeeze at +1700 odds).

Beyond Schauffele to win, we're looking down the board a bit at Top 20 placement bets, where we find the talented Max Homa at +210 odds to make the T20. Homa is one of the best drivers on tour, if not the best. His short game has been steady this season, and if he can just hit fairways, this is phenomenal value. DimersBOT gives Homa a 37.4% chance of finishing T20 or better, better than nine golfers with shorter odds and a lower probability this weekend. Bet Max Homa to finish Top 20.
