Corales Puntacana Championship Betting Preview
The Corales Puntacana Championship is one of the rare PGA Tour events that has to compete with another PGA Tour event on the same weekend, and this week it is the Dell Match Play event that is claiming 64 of the biggest name players in the world.
That's not to say there isn't value, as our model loves two golfers in particular in Puntacana this week. Corales Golf Course is longer than the tour average, and we expect there to be some low-scoring rounds, as the champion has shot -17 or higher in many of the recent previous years. Strokes gained off the tee will be a stat to keep an eye on here, as this course should benefit long hitters.
Dimers' Golf H2H Matchup Tool compares our model's head-to-head probabilities for golfers competing in the current PGA Tour tournament. Choose your players and switch between Fair Odds or Percentages.
Best Bets to Win the Corales Puntacana Championship
The DimersBOT has it's eyes on two golfers before the tournament begins this weekend. One is the betting favorite to hoist the trophy, and one is a player who has had great success in this event every time he has entered in his career.
The first Best Bet is Wyndham Clark (+1000) to win the Puntacana Championship. Clark is the highest ranked golfer in the field, and he is in a league of his own as far as caliber this weekend. Clark is long off the tee, which suits him well on this course. In his only start in this event, he finished T22, but he is in great form currently, coming off a solo fifth-place finish last week. Our model gives Clark a 13.3% chance to win the tournament, and a whopping 52.4% chance to finish in the Top 10, which for reference, is even higher than Jon Rahm usually grades out in PGA Tour events.
The second Best Bet is Thomas Detry (+2000) to win the Puntacana Championship. Detry has a great history in Puntacana, making the cut in every career appearance and finishing 15th, 13th, 33rd and 33rd in his last four appearances. Detry grades out close to a top 10 value in this field both off the tee and on the greens, ranked as the 11th best driver in this field and the 8th best putter. Detry is our model's 2nd-most probable champion, as DimersBOT gives him a 7.0% chance to win the tournament. That's good enough for us.
