NCAA March Madness - The Winners and Losers of the Weekend

It was an historic weekend across the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 rounds of this year's NCAA Tourney with Cinderellas and fairytales littered throughout. Now, with the final four teams set and a trip to New Orleans on the horizon, we stop and ponder the biggest winners and losers from the gambling world for the weekend that was.

Think someone in one of next weekend's Final Four will hit a three-pointer? Then, BetMGM has the offer for you! It's FREE MONEY

WINNER: $43k Parlay Winner

One bettor from New York spent Sunday night at a Buffalo Wild Wings watching a $25 pre-tournament bet pay more than $43,000 as he correctly hit on all four regional winners.

The bet, which was placed on March 14, contained Duke, Villanova and Kansas, who all won their region finals over the weekend, as well as 8-seed North Carolina, who capitalized on the poor performances of the higher seeded teams in the East region this tournament to cash the massive parlay at odds of +172772.

How did he celebrate? With BWW's finest bottle of champagne of course.

Bet $20 and get $200 in free bets if any team in next week's Final Four games scores a point!

LOSER: Peacocks Bettors

Don't cry that it's over - smile that it happened. The dream run for Saint Peter's ended on Sunday after a total annihilation at the hands of North Carolina, crushing the Cinderella story and all those tickets with it. The Peacocks were +75000 before the tournament to take out the title, but that means nothing now. It is a good lesson in knowing when to cash out, though.

Winner: Carlos Boozer

Remember him? Former NBA player, and Duke alum, Carlos Boozer, placed $50,000 on Duke back two weeks ago at odds of +1100 with PointsBet. Now in the Final Four, not to mention the biggest feel-good story of the tournament remaining with Coach K retiring at season's end, the former Bull stands to cash in $600,000 if they can pull it off.

LOSER: Rich Guys, Again

Sometimes when it comes to big bets it's cash of too many dollars and not enough sense. One bettor lost BIG when he slammed down $350,000 on the Houston Cougars to cover a 2.5 alternate spread against Villanova. Unfortunately for him, the Cougars went down by 7 and this bettors cash went with it.
