NBA Playoffs 2020 Denver vs. LA Lakers Game Five: Predictions and picks

Stop me if you think that you’ve heard this one before: the Denver Nuggets trail 3-1 in an NBA Playoffs series.

It is the third time in as many postseason series that the Nuggets have faced elimination in Game 5. After completing miraculous comebacks against the Utah Jazz and LA Clippers, you’d be mistaken for thinking Denver would be relishing yet another opportunity to pull off another great escape.

Of the situation Denver finds themselves in, Nuggets coach Michael Malone said, “I think people out there probably think this is exactly where we want them. It’s not. We would much rather be up 3-1, but it is what it is.”

For the Lakers, Game 4 further credentialled their Championship favoritism, now -300 with the sportsbooks to claim their first title since 2010. LeBron James will be wary of complacency, however, and will be wanting to ensure that Los Angeles doesn’t let Denver back in.

Will Denver keep their fairytale alive, or will it be the Lakers to close it out and advance to the NBA Finals?

🔥 BEST
Spread: Nuggets +6 (-110*) has a 52% probability

Denver has been consistently underrated by the sportsbooks throughout these playoffs, and once again they are given a very healthy 6-point line in this one. The Nuggets have covered the spread in 8 of their last 10, and with the series on the line, we’re expecting them to keep it close. Look for the Nuggs to cover.

💵 Moneyline
Lakers H2H (-215*) has a 68% probability

While our DimersBOT is expecting a close-run battle, as has been the case throughout the majority of this series, ultimately, we do still see the Lakers inching away in Game 5 to wrap up the series. Not only have LeBron James and Anthony Davis come up big time and time again, but the Lakers supporting cast have stepped up to contribute meaningful minutes. LA has laser vision for the Larry O’Brien trophy now and they’ll get the job done in Game 5.

👆 Over/Under
o214.5 points (-110*) has a 51% probability

If you’re someone that likes taking the over in games, then you would have made a killing during this series. The over has won in three of the four games, with the series averaging 222.5 points a contest. The sportsbooks keep expecting players to tense up and lockdown, but it’s just not happening in this series as both teams keep up a fast pace. Cash in on this one!

🏀 Dimers' take-out

LA look like locks to win the title but underestimate the Denver Nuggets at your own peril. Denver very may well bow out of the playoffs in Game 5, but they will be far from disgraced.
