Free MLB Picks for Tuesday June 21, 2022

Dodgers vs. Reds, 6:40PM ET

An over/under total of 9.5 for a game involving Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin (8-0, 1.42 ERA) would certainly imply that the 'books are counting on LA to completely destroy this Cincinnati team and put a lot of runs past them, but are we so sure that's going to happen? This Dodger team has been a little down on its luck as of late, winning just 5 of its last 10 games, averaging a pretty paltry 3.68 runs per game. Their hitters aren't in great form, not to mention the loss of Mookie Betts from their lineup who will miss another couple of weeks. It's got us thinking that runs will be pretty tight here. The Dodgers are the better team, and Gonsolin will keep scoring down, but this isn't exactly going to end up being a basketball score.

Giants vs. Braves, 7:20PM ET

Giants pitcher Anthony DeSclafani will be activated off of the 60-day injury list for his first start since mid-April and will be battling against a rampaging Braves team who kicked off this midweek series with a 2-1 win last night. DeSclafani was one of San Francisco's finest in their memorable 2021 run but started this season off poorly with a 6.08 ERA through 3 appearances on the mound before being put on ice due to ankle inflammation. He's put in some rehab work in the minors on his way back to the rotation but it's expected that he will only pitch for a few innings before the relievers are called in; and that could be an issue. So far this season the Giants bullpen has been fairly average. We're expecting Atlanta to seize command early and hold onto it throughout.

Phillies vs. Rangers, 9:45PM ET

With Bryce Harper's status still unclear at the time of publishing, it kind of makes sense that the sportsbooks have these teams fairly even in the moneyline markets, but we just can't get over the nightmare weekend that Texas had against the Tigers. The Rangers were awful defensively against a really bad team and we just cannot in good conscience bet on them. This is a fade every day of the week and the Phillies - a team that has won 7 of their last 10 games - represent excellent value.
