Free MLB Picks for Sunday July 24, 2022

Yankees vs. Orioles, 1:35PM ET

The Yanks will be reeling after coughing up a 3-0 lead last night to eventually lose to the Orioles 6-3, but they will have a chance to right the ship early this afternoon with All-Star ace Nestor Cortes Jr. (7-3, 2.63 ERA) on the mound. Cortes has been a little wayward as of late, giving up runs in each of his last 7 starts, but with a pretty solid ERA, he should be effective in limiting a run offense that is ranked 21st in the league. The Orioles will be buoyed by the fact that they have a weapon up their sleeve on the bump in their own right with Dean Kremer (3-1, 2.59 ERA) displaying some nice recent form. New York does have a powerful offense, but this total seems simply too high for two starting pitchers who have displayed consistent measly returns this year.

Marlins vs. Pirates, 1:35PM ET

After Miami's 8-1 win over the Pirates on Friday, you could be forgiven for thinking that maybe their run drought was over. That was until last night. The Marlins' woes on offense resurface again on Saturday, losing 1-0 to Pittsburgh in yet another fairly uneventful game. That's their third shutout in the last four games - a stat that has to be concerning for Don Mattingly. 

Lucky for the Marlins, Sandy Alcantara (9-4, 1.76 ERA) will be doing his best on the mound today to keep the Pirates to a minimal score. Miami might very well win, but don't expect this game to trouble the scorekeeper too much.

Giants vs. Dodgers, 4:10PM ET

Barring some mid-game theatrics from the Giants in Thursday series opener, it's been relatively smooth sailing for the Dodgers this weekend, winning 3 consecutive games over their NL West rivals. The domination looks set to continue today with LA's premier ace in Clayton Kershaw dealing heat. San Francisco's season is simply slipping away and they're in trouble today.
