Free MLB Picks for Friday June 17, 2022

Brewers vs. Reds, 6:40PM ET

The Reds have found some rhythm in recent weeks, and so too has their rookie pitcher, Hunter Greene. The Cincy ace has put together two strong performances in his last two starts after a very bumpy start to his career, giving up just one run combined in those games. It's been enough to force the 'books to pay respect to the Reds, but even despite Greene's improved form, he'll still face a tricky assignment against a strong Milwaukee team. The Brewers will send Eric Lauer (5-2, 3.36 ERA) to the mound and we see them being a little too strong. These are great odds at the moneyline.

Giants vs. Pirates, 7:05PM ET

The Giants keep quietly going about their business in pursuit of the Padres and Dodgers in the NL West. They've won 7 of their last 10 games and will find themselves with a great opportunity to try and make some further ground with a weekend series against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Carlos Rodon will be starting for San Francisco, and he's been much more consistent over his last 3 starts, getting back to the kind of hot form we saw last year. Looking at bare numbers, the Giants excel with their run offense and the Pirates are an awful defensive side. If Rodon can keep the runs down, his offense will be able to put space between themselves and the Bucs early on.

Rangers vs. Tigers, 7:10PM ET

The Rangers waited until the very last minute to come over the top of Detroit last night, scoring 3 runs in the 9th inning to steal the game 3-1. Tonight the Tigers will have revenge on the mind and they'll be well positioned to do something about it with Tarik Skubal (5-3, 2.71 ERA)  on the mound for the Tigers, up against Jon Gray (1-3, 4.85 ERA) for the Rangers. Skubal has been one of the best for Detroit in another miserable season. For two teams that are pretty evenly matched, that edge may be enough to get them over the line.
