2020 NFL MVP Race: Week 14 Update, Predictions and Odds

2020 NFL MVP Race: Week 14 Update, Predictions and Odds

The NFL season continues to truck along with the postseason somehow on the horizon already, which means we’re nearing the time where a host of individual awards are set to be announced.

In our pre-season preview, we put forward Russell Wilson as our top pick and for a while there, the 8/1 odds we got were looking like way overs!

Now, as we head into the final month of the regular season, the best player in the league has taken over and is the short-priced favorite to take out the award.

🏆 Favorites

🏈 Patrick Mahomes II (-500)

So, is this over? Most likely yes. For those unsure on how the odds work for this pick here, if you were to lay down $10 on Mahomes to win the award right now, him pulling through would net you $12 (yep, that includes the $10 you put down).

An off day against the Broncos saw him put up just 1 TD with 0 INTs, to move his season totals to a ridiculous 30 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. The man is a freak and will most likely walk to his second career MVP this season.

🏈 Aaron Rodgers (+450)

Possibly the one man who could put a stop to Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers has thrown 36 touchdowns this season, with just 4 interceptions.

He has put up multiple TDs in every game bar one this season, with that one off-game also producing half of his season total INTs when he threw for 0 scores and 2 interceptions in a loss to the Bucs back in October.

Keep in mind, in both our Week 4 and Week 8 MVP updates, Mahomes’ odds were not far off this mark with many people placing Russell Wilson as an almost lock (including this idiot), so a change in the top of the order is not completely out of the question.

🏈 Josh Allen (+1700 or 17/1)

Allen was huge again this past week and has cemented himself as the third favorite for the award with four weeks left to play out.

His stats (26 TDs + 8 INTs) may see him fall short of the two listed above but if the Bills could play out the season with four more wins, Allen will be undeniable as an MVP candidate.

💰 The drop-offs

🏈 Russell Wilson (+2000 or 20/1)

Well, this is a shame. Russ was our pre-season pick and for a lot of the season we were looking goooood with the 8/1 odds we snapped him up at.

Unfortunately, both Russ and his Seahawks haven’t quite been the same of late, with Wilson throwing just 4 touchdowns in his last 4 games. It would take a miracle for our pre-season bets to pay off but crazier things have happened in 2020!

🏈 Ben Roethliesberger (+5000 or 50/1)

This is being written just hours after the Steelers blew their unbeaten season to the Washington Football Team, and that is very much reflected in the odds that FanDuel have put up since.

Although Ben wasn’t particularly bad (305 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT) his best chance of snatching the MVP was going to be a 16-0 season, and after today’s loss he looks unlikely to even win comeback player of the year, with Alex Smith the clear betting favorite.

🔮 Bets for the Brave

🏈 Kyler Murray (+10000 or 100/1)

Kyler is one of our favorite players here at Dimers HQ, but frankly, this is not the year he gets an MVP. This bet wouldn’t only be for the brave, but also for the stupid. He’s clearly playing injured at the moment, which is affecting both of his top assets in his long throws and rushing yards.

Expect to find him at the top of our pre-season picks next season but for 2020, it’s a big ol’ no for K1.

🏈 Derrick Henry (+10000 or 100/1)

What a beast of man, this guy is. A loss to the Browns may have killed off his chances, but if a running back is to win this award in the next year or two, it’s going to be this guy or the one listed right below him.

There’s hardly a player more exciting to watch when he’s on and if you think there’s a chance the Titans go off for the rest of the season, this one could actually be worth a buck or two.

🏈 Alvin Kamara (+10000 or 100/1)

Kamara has broken our hearts here at Dimers a few times this season when playing well but failing to get in the endzone for our anytime touchdown bets, but not even we can deny just how good he has been (even if it is through gritted teeth).

The Saints are absolutely flying at 10-2 but if they can end at 14-2, Kamara will be a serious chance for a backdoor top three MVP finish.

🏈 Aaron Donald (+20000 or 200/1 with BetMGM)

We will stand by this until the end of time. For some CRAZY reason, we are unable to get odds on Aaron Donald for the MVP with some sportsbooks despite the fact he is by far the best at what he does whilst his Rams are atop a super-competitive NFC West.

Put some money down on this man!
