PGA Expert Picks: 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions Predictions & Best Bets

PGA Expert Picks: 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions Predictions & Best Bets

Our best golf bets for the true first event of the 2022-23 PGA Tour are finally here, as some of the top golfers on the planet head to Hawaii for the Sentry Tournament of Champions. This event is going to be played at the beautiful Kapalua Plantation Course, where we'll see some incredible 72-hole action in an event with a purse of $15 million. Last year, Cameron Smith, who is now with LIV Golf, shot a ridiculous -34 to edge out Jon Rahm in this event. But with Smith not allowed to compete in this tournament, we will have a new champion for the event that will run from January 5 to January 8. Make sure you come to Dimers all golf season, as we'll be feeding you our PGA best bets on a weekly basis. These PGA predictions are made with our predictive analytics model and world-class artificial intelligence

PGA Tour Golf Best Bets

Sentry Tournament of Champions

Tony Finau (+1400 at DraftKings

Finau is currently the second-ranked player in our Dimers golf rankings, but No. 1 Rory McIlroy isn't playing in Hawaii this week. With that said, we like taking a shot on Finau, who our model gives a 10.2% chance of winning this event for the first time in his career.

Finau has three wins in his last seven tournaments, with one of those being at the Cadence Bank Houston Open this season. And even though he hasn't played very well at this event historically, his game makes him a good bet on any course. With that in mind, it's only a matter of time before he takes this one down and we want to be on him when he does. Finau has the potential to set the tour on fire in 2023, as his end-of-season performances in 2022 suggest he's ready to consistently be mentioned with the world's elite players.

Tony Finau is a 10.2% chance to win the Sentry Tournament of Champions, a 33.8% chance to finish Top-5 and a 54.4% chance of finishing Top-10.

Will Zalatoris (+3100 at FanDuel

Zalatoris is another player that our model really likes, in general. The 26-year-old is eighth in our player rankings, but FanDuel gave him only the 15th-best odds to win this event. That makes it hard to pass on him as a smaller dart throw in the first tournament of the calendar year.

Zalatoris has been knocking on the door for quite some time now, with six top-10 finishes in his 10 appearances at majors in his career. He was the runner-up in three of those tournaments, and we expect big things out of the American in 2023. The one missing part of his game is consistency with the putter ā€” he has rolled it extremely well at majors but not elsewhere ā€” but you'd have to think he is spending most of his time trying to get that right.

Will Zalatoris is a 6.2% chance to win the Sentry Tournament of Champions, a 26.2% chance to finish Top-5 and a 45.1% chance of finishing Top-10.

Max Homa (+3400 at Caesars)

Homa already has a win to his name in the 2022-23 season, as he won the Fortinet Championship back in September. Now, the 32-year-old will start to look for some more meaningful wins, and it wouldn't be all that surprising if he were to be in the mix on Sunday.

Homa is a guy that seems locked in heading into the new year, as he recently made it known that he wants to be more than just a player that is known for his presence on social media. And he happens to have a pretty complete game, so big things could be on the horizon.

Max Homa is a 4.3% chance to win the Sentry Tournament of Champions, a 20.0% chance to finish Top-5 and a 37.8% chance of finishing Top-10.
