The New York Rangers host the Pittsburgh Penguins in what will be the first of two games this week between these Metropolitan division rivals at Madison Square Garden.

This also marks the second of three games between these two this week.

Pittsburgh took a 3-2 home win against the Rangers, in overtime, on Sunday afternoon.

After the Rangers defeated the Penguins in a seven game first round playoff series last spring, Pittsburgh has taken the first two games of the season series, both in Pittsburgh.

The Penguins have been very inconsistent this season as far as their defense and goaltending is concerned.

Pittsburgh is off a 6-4 home loss against Montreal, a game in which Tristan Jarry was pulled, yet again.

The Rangers are off a 5-3 home win against the Capitals and have wins in three of their last four games.

Jaroslav Halak started Sunday's meeting so expect to see Igor Shesterkin tonight.

Shesty is having a lesser year than last but the Rangers definitely have the goaltending edge.

I like the Rangers to start off this mini two game set with a win. I’ll back them on the -1 at plus money.
