The Ottawa Senators visit the Pittsburgh Penguins in a battle of two struggling defensive teams tonight at PPG Paints Arena.

Pittsburgh is coming off a 6-0 loss to the New York Rangers on Saturday night, which was their second consecutive loss to that team, being outscored 10-2.

The Pens fell to the second Wild Card spot in the East, just one point up on Florida. Ottawa is off a thrilling 5-4 shootout loss to the Maple Leafs, which marked their fifth consecutive loss.

Ottawa’s playoff hopes are dwindling as the losing streak has them seven points out of a playoff spot.

Both of these teams have shown an inability to keep the puck out of their own net lately.

Pittsburgh is allowing 3.6 goals per game over their last 10, and the Sens are allowing four goals per game over their last 10 also.

I’m sure both teams would prefer to tighten things up but neither has shown the ability to do that yet this season.
