Royals vs. Guardians, 7:10PM ET

The Guardians continue to roll on and are the hottest team in baseball right now with 10 wins in their last 11 games. They're coming off a series win against the Rays midweek and will now host the luckless Royals who are on a 3-game losing streak. While Kansas City will have the starting pitching matchup edge with Brady Singer (10-4, 2.99 ERA) taking on Cleveland's Zach Plesac (3-11, 4.39 ERA), the Guards will take confidence into this one knowing that they were able to dispatch Singer for 3 ER in their last meeting against him less than a month ago on September 3. Cleveland aren't a big home run-hitting team; they'll methodically break opponents down by getting on base. Expect this to be tight in the early innings with the AL Central champions pulling away later in the game.

Mets vs. Braves, 7:20PM ET

The Mets and Braves have it all to play for this weekend with a NL East division on the line - and with that, a pass through the Wild Card games and straight into the NLDS where they'll avoid a matchup with the Dodgers. Both teams are sending in their big guns tonight with Max Fried (13-7, 2.50 ERA) and Jacob deGrom (5-3, 2.93 ERA) getting the starts. Mets fans will be particularly weary of deGrom given his recent form where he's given up 3 or more runs in each of his last three starts against already eliminated teams in the Athletics, Pirates and Cubs. The Braves are 1-1 against the New York ace this season, but being at home they should have the ability to do the business.

Pirates vs. Cardinals, 8:15PM ET

Pittsburgh are enjoying a nice little moment this week with three straight wins as they roll into St. Louis for a weekend series against the Cardinals, starting tonight with a matchup against a very leaky pitcher in Jack Flaherty (1-1, 4.97 ERA). The Cards vet has been getting results (St. Louis have won their last three games when he's started), but he is giving up runs at a decent pace, conceding multi-run games in 5 of his 7 appearances this year. The Pirates know Flaherty well with two games already against him in 2022 and given their form, they should be able to keep things close in what could be a high scoring affair.
