Understanding Kalshi Trading:
Kalshi transforms real-world outcomes into tradable financial contracts. Unlike traditional sportsbooks, Kalshi operates a regulated market overseen by the
U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Kalshi prices each event between
1¢ and 99¢, representing the market’s estimated probability of a “Yes” result.
For example, in the
Houston vs. Iowa State
market:
- An
Iowa State "Yes"
contract is currently trading at
59¢. This price indicates the market believes they have a
58% chance
to win. If you buy that contract and they win, the contract pays out
$1, netting you a
41¢ profit
per share.
- Conversely, backing
Houston
via a "Yes" contract costs
42¢, offering a potential payout of $1 and a
58¢ profit
if the Cougars pull off the road upset as the underdog for the first time this season.
