Each contest has a specific entry requirement and it’s important to understand what this means and how it works. From my experience here, I’ve found that the entry requirements for the no-cost contests usually include a minimum points value, and a minimum number of social picks.
Every social pick you make has a points value and this is based on the odds of the selection. For example, if you pick the Arizona Diamondbacks to beat the Miami Marlins, and they had odds of 1.63, that selection would give you 1.63 points. In most instances, the minimum points requirement is 5, and the minimum number of social picks is 2 but you can add as many selections as you want.
📊 2. Be analytical and make informed social picks
When I started using social sportsbooks years ago I was relatively loose with my social picks and I would just select the team/option with the lowest odds. However, I quickly realized that this wasn’t always the best course of action and that oftentimes, putting a little extra effort into research and analysis helped me make more educated social picks.
Now, when I use Wanna Parlay, for example, before I make my selections I look at a heap of different stats and information. Depending on the sport this can include H2H matchup histories, match schedules, player form, team form, home and away records, and injuries. A main thing to realize with the Wanna Parlay no-cost contests is that just because you made two successful social picks for your entry, it doesn’t mean you are guaranteed a leaderboard space. This is because there are two factors for leaderboard scores. Firstly, you have to get all your selections right. But secondly, you have to have the most points from your social picks.
This is why I like to look at the leaderboards to see what potential points scores other people can get. For example, let’s say that I picked the Arizona Diamondbacks, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Cincinnati Reds to win for MLB in the no-cost contest and it gave me 5.14 points. That would be an awesome real money acca, but in Wanna Parlay it’s probably not going to rank me very high, even if I got all 3 selections right. For instance, I look at the leaderboard and can see that the top potential points someone can get on the same contest is 21,821.92 compared to my 5.14! Sure, they need 17 selections to come in, but this should show you how the total points value of your social picks really matter.
⚖️ 4. Consider using a mix of low and high-risk social picks
My best no-cost contest results at Wanna Parlay have come when I’ve used a mix of low and high-risk social picks. I’ll usually add several low-odds moneyline selections in to at least give me a sensible selection, but then I’ll add in some social player props that are still reasonable and achievable, but give my total points a big boost. I think this is a conservative way to play the contests. Of course, you can also just go crazy and add 10 different high-risk selections and hope they all come in - the contests have no cost to enter after all so why not!
