I’ve been meaning to try Horseshoe Casino for some time now as it looks to be one of the better US Caesars offshoots, and I’ve finally had the chance over the last couple of weeks.
When I started my Horseshoe Casino review, my initial impressions were positive due to the high-quality mobile app, the massive 500 bonus spin welcome offer, and the variety of retro slots they have from legendary developers like IGT and Light and Wonder. However, if you want a full breakdown, read on as I jump into these features and more.
As I’ve done with reviews for other USA online casinos, I started by checking the legitimacy of Horseshoe Casino to make sure it was the real deal, and a licensed US operator. I was happy with what I found, and it has a solid setup relating to its licensing, security, support, banking, and responsible gambling tools and commitment.
In terms of availability and licensing, I was pleased with what I saw, and at the time of creating this Horseshoe Casino review, it operated legally in the following states:
I checked out the various gambling licenses and everything was in order. For example, for the Michigan version of the site, it has a license from the Michigan Gaming Control Board. If you want to check for yourself, you should be able to see the relevant licensing information for your state in the website footer.
The site and apps also have appropriate parent company information and decent transparency relating to its operations. For instance, I found documents and pages relating to patron protection, general terms of service, and a customer privacy policy.
Whenever I used the Horseshoe Casino site or apps, I was happy with the security and the features they have to protect customers. It starts with SSL encryption which is used for all data transfers. When I wrote my Horseshoe Casino review, they had an active SSL certificate provided by Amazon. Geoblocking technology was used too, which prevents people from outside legal jurisdictions accessing the site.
You can enable authentication for your account login if you wish– this is something I always do as 2FA is one of the safest measures you can use. Also, the registration process includes a range of verification checks such as email, SMS, and eventually at some point a full ID check. I expect US online casinos to have these anti-fraud measures as standard.
I actually had to use the customer support system a few times while writing this review as I needed to research things like payment methods and licenses. I first checked the help center which is really detailed. It has categories for T&Cs, promos, payments, games, and your account management. I managed to use it effectively to find out info relating to payment methods and min/max limits.
There is also a live chat though which is available if you want to speak to a human. Not surprisingly, you have to speak to an AI chatbot first, but I found this a pleasant and straightforward experience. The bot was able to help with a few queries, but ultimately, I was able to speak to a human if I wanted. They were also especially helpful, and the average response time was 5 to 7 minutes.
The banking methods may vary depending on your state, but I was able to make deposits using Visa or MasterCard debit cards, eCheck, online banking, Caesars Play+ Card, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, and PayNearMe. I thought this was a decent collection of payment methods that gives you plenty of flexibility, but I typically stick with good old debit cards regardless.
Interestingly enough, I also found that there was a really low minimum deposit limit of $5, and an even lower minimum withdrawal limit of $1 which I rarely see at other US online casinos. You generally have to use the same deposit and withdrawal method, and the withdrawal processing time will vary based on which method you used– I recommend PayPal or debit card where possible.
Horseshoe Casino promotes responsible gambling throughout its website and I was happy with their commitment to it. There is a dedicated responsible gambling page that provides myths, explains risks, and gives you information on the signs of problem gaming. On top of that, they offer a range of tools that you can use to help stay in control, including:
I actually think these are more detailed than some other sites I’ve recently tested, and I was especially pleased to see the daily time limit and spend limit features as these can allow you to give structure and limits to your gaming activities.
I spent a little time looking at the usability of Horseshoe Casino too, for both its mobile and desktop versions. I had a mixed bag really, and I think the mobile apps are far superior to the desktop website.
The desktop website looks fantastic, and it does have a modern design. I also like the consistent use of the Horseshoe Casino brand and colors. However, my main issue was with the game filters and organization.
For me, the main lobby essentially had a massive list of all the games with no real structure or categories– it was just difficult to try and trawl through this mass of thumbnails and I found it a little frustrating. Aside from that though, everything else was spot on, such as the account management, the page speeds, and the technical aspects.
For me, the mobile versions were the real stars of the show, and I found both Android and iOS downloadable apps. Before I tested the Android version myself (I don’t have an iPhone), I checked out the ratings and reviews from other customers:
Most of the comments were positive, but I did see some people complaining about withdrawal processing speeds and the response times of customer support.
I tested the Android version out for myself on my Samsung Galaxy and it’s one of the best-designed casino apps I’ve used for a while. It has a smooth interface and navigation, the game library is MUCH easier to navigate, and I just had a pleasant experience gaming here and managing my account.
I’ve created a separate Horseshoe Casino bonus review where I explore the promotions in greater detail, but in this guide I’ll give you the basics and explain how the welcome bonus and Caesars Rewards program work. These are the main two promotional features I found, and they rank up there with other top US online casinos.
Instead of giving you something like a deposit match bonus, or no stress gameplay, Horseshoe Casino allows new customers the chance to get up to 500 bonus spins on selected video slots.
These bonus spins can be used on a range of different video slots, including classics from Light &Wonder and IGT like the Huff N More Puff series and Cash Eruption. You don’t unlock all of the spins in one go; instead, they are given in chunks of 125 with the following criteria:
Tier Credits are gained by real money gameplay with your USD balance, and you get 1x Tier Credit for every $5 played on video slots and video poker, or 1x Tier Credit for every $25 played on table games. This effectively means that you have to spend $20 on slots in total, or $100 on table games (or a mix of the two), to unlock the full 500 bonus spins.
Additionally, any potential winnings you get from the bonus spins are credited as bonus cash, which you then have to play through once before it is turned into redeemable USD. I really like this bonus offer– it’s easy to understand, the T&Cs are pretty simple, and it’s a relatively low investment for a potential massive amount of bonus spins in return.
While I didn’t find a heap of promos for existing customers when I signed up at Horseshoe Casino, I did notice that it’s part of the Caesars Rewards Program. This is a pretty prominent and well-known casino/sportsbooks rewards program operated by the Caesars Group. You can get reward points by playing games at Horseshoe Casino, and you also work your way through the different tiers starting at Gold.
At each tier, there’s a host of different on-site and real-world perks. For example, you can convert your reward points in playable casino or sportsbook bonus cash. Alternatively, you can enjoy a range of different discounts and promotions for Caesars resorts, restaurants, and other associated establishments.
Now we get to the most exciting part of this Horseshoe Casino review– the games! This online casino boasts a considerable library of 3,000+ titles, and overall, they’ve done a good job of providing a diverse collection. I do think they rely heavily on more retro slot developers though, and they could add some more games from modern producers like Nolimit City.
As mentioned, you’ll find games from a range of retro developers including IGT, Light & Wonder, ReelPlay, Microgaming, Blueprint Gaming, NetEnt, and Playtech. Now, there’s nothing wrong with these producers at all. Indeed, they have created some of the most iconic slots and games of all time, and I had immense fun trying them out as you’ll see below.
I just want a little bit more modern variety with my casino gaming– more slots that have new mechanics, and I don’t think Horseshoe Casino quite delivers here.
In terms of the actual main categories, Horseshoe Casino covers all the ones I expect to see, such as:
There’s a solid video poker collection with classics like Deuces Wild and Aces and Faces, but also a massive collection of video slots. I lost count at over 1,000, and while they don’t feature as many modern developers, I was impressed with their Hacksaw Gaming collection which includes titles like Le Cowboy, Duel at Dawn, and Rip City.
Alternatively, you can try out a pretty extensive range of live dealer games and game shows from developers like Evolution. I spent A LOT of time playing Lightning Blackjack and Red Baron Live.
If you DO love retro slots, then you’ll be in heaven at Horseshoe Casino, and I’ve picked out some of my favorites in the below table:
| Game | Developer | RTP | Volatility | Theme |
| Triple Cash Eruption | IGT | 96.00% | Medium-High | Ancient Civilizations |
| Huff N More Puff | Light & Wonder | 96.00% | Medium | Huff N More Puff series |
| Lucky Larry’s Lobster Mania 2 | IGT | 96.52% | Medium | Ocean, Lobsters |
| Hyper Nova Megaways | ReelPlay | 96.09% | Medium-High | Space, the Universe |
| Cleopatra | IGT | 95.70% | Medium | Ancient Egypt |
For me, this Horseshoe Casino review showed that it DOES tick pretty much all of the boxes, and it only has a few small areas for improvement. I want to see the game filters and organization of the desktop site greatly improved, as I found this feature difficult to use, and they should add a few more modern game developers too instead of only relying on game providers like IGT, Microgaming, and Light & Wonder.
These are all things I could live with though, and overall, I had a really enjoyable experience here. There are more than enough games to tackle, and I had a blast with the live game shows from Evolution. On top of that, you can get a cracking welcome bonus, and everything is as it should be in terms of legitimacy. If you fancy trying it out for yourself and want to get signed up, all you need to do now is click any of the banners or links I’ve got featured on this page.
Yes! After testing this site extensively, I’ve got no doubts about its legitimacy. It has the relevant gambling licenses for the US states it operates in, and it does everything I expect from a reputable online casino.
At the moment when I created this Horseshoe Casino review, it is legal in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. It is also available in a couple of Canadian Provinces. You also have to be over 21 to legally sign up here, and be willing to go through a full KYC process.
Yes, I found a Horseshoe Casino iOS and Android app that you can download directly from either the Play Store or the App Store. I personally tested the Android version and it worked like a treat.
One of my new favorite games that is actually featured at Horseshoe Casino is Red Baron Live. This is a live crash game similar to Aviator, but it has a live studio setup and I think Evolution has done a great job with the immersion and gameplay flow. It also has a decent RTP of 97.00%, and the volatility depends on however you play the game.
Maybe! It’s not guaranteed, but you do have the chance of getting real money USD payouts from your gaming if you initially play using your USD balance.
