Wyoming has a much shorter history compared to some other states when it comes to online sports betting and live betting, but nonetheless, it is legal here thanks to House Bill 133 which was passed in 2021.
Since then, a total of five awesome Wyoming online sportsbooks have launched including Caesars Sportsbook, BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings, and Fanatics. These are all well-known brands with fantastic offerings and in the below guide we’ll introduce you to them, while explaining the legality of sports betting in the state and important legislation.
Online sports betting has been legal in Wyoming since 2021 and it remains one of the few types of online gambling permitted in the state. Horse racing is also available, but there has been no development for real money online casinos. The passing of House Bill 133 came as somewhat of a surprise in 2021 as up until that point, the state had taken a relatively strict stance on all forms of online gambling.
Regardless, after it passed, several of the prominent US sportsbook brands applied for licences and launched their online sportsbook sites shortly after. Currently, residents of the Cowboy State can legally register and bet at five WY sportsbooks - BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Fanatics, and Caesars Sportsbook. You must be over 18 to do so.
College sports betting is also available without any restrictions, and there is a tax requirement for any winnings over $5,000 which comes in at 24% after you’ve submitted the relevant form to the IRS.
| Legal Status | Legal |

| Launch Date | September 2021 |
| Number of Licensed Betting Sites | 5 |
| Legal Online Sportsbooks | BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Fanatics, Caesars Sportsbook |
| Minimum Sports Betting Age | 18 |
| Betting Restrictions | N/A |
| Tax Rate on Winnings | 24% for any winnings over $5,000 |
After sports betting was legalized in 2021, and the main five operators launched their sites, there haven't been too many developments in the online sports betting industry in WY. However, the following are some important events and updates that have happened in the last year:
September 11, 2025 – Lawmakers declined to advance a draft bill that would have doubled Wyoming’s online sports betting tax from 10% to 20%, leaving current rates in place.
August 5, 2025 – Wyoming Attorney General Keith Kautz joined a bipartisan coalition of 50 attorneys general urging the U.S. Department of Justice to crack down on illegal offshore sportsbooks.
July 16, 2025 – The Governor certified updates to Wyoming’s Online Sports Wagering rules (Chapters 1 and 8).
June 18, 2025 – A legislative committee floated a proposal to raise the online sports betting tax from 10% to 20%, triggering industry pushback.
February 7, 2025 – The Wyoming Gaming Commission issued a Notice of Intent to adopt amendments to Online Sports Wagering rules (Chapters 1 and 8).
January 24, 2025 – The Governor certified updates to Online Sports Wagering Chapter 6 (Sports Wagering Accounts).
So that you can get the best out of your betting experience in The Cowboy State, we’ve created mini reviews for the five online sportsbooks you can legally register at here. Each site offers something slightly different and we think that some of the sites are better suited if you like different sports or types of bets, for example.
| Sportsbook | Best For |
|---|---|
| BetMGM | NBA Betting |
| DraftKings | MLB Betting |
| FanDuel | Sports Variety |
| Fanatics | Smartphone betting |
| Caesars Sportsbook | NFL parlays |
BetMGM is a flexible option for Wyoming bettors who like to tinker midgame. One Game Parlay covers the major leagues with alternates and player milestones, live markets turn over quickly, and Edit My Bet ties into Cash Out so you can add/swap legs or adjust stakes on eligible tickets as a game swings, which is great for stitching Broncos props or college Saturdays into one slip without starting over.
Fans of the Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz will love the NBA support BetMGM has and you can make a superb range of bets either on the desktop site or the incredible mobile app. There’s always special bets to find, plus player and team props for the individual games. BetMGM also has markets for football, soccer, hockey, baseball, tennis, golf, and 20+ other sports.
With baseball being the most popular sport in the state, DraftKings will be a great option as we think it has some of the best MLB coverage you can find. It has all the Spring Training games, MLB Tokyo, plus of course the regular season and playoffs. There’s futures bets for placings and awards, plus an amazing in-play setup with live streaming of many games.
DraftKings shines in Wyoming for market density and tools. SGPx lets you combine multiple SGPs and singles into one larger ticket (perfect for pairing Broncos angles with NHL or NBA plays), while Stats Hub layers trends, systems, and splits right on the game page so you can build quickly without tab-hopping. Live props and alternates refresh fast during runs.
FanDuel just has an overall great betting variety and it supports a huge range of different sports. You can bet on all the top options like the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL, but also popular global sports like soccer, tennis, golf, MMA, boxing, and motorsports. We love the props betting variety featured here too. On most of the matches for the popular sports you’ve got multiple team and player betting options.
FanDuel also brings speed and polish to Wyoming with an intuitive Same Game Parlay builder, lots of alternates, and a lively LIVE tab. Two standout touches are The Pulse, a storyline-driven feed of micro-markets that surfaces as the game unfolds, and Bet Protect, which cushions eligible NFL player-prop bets if your pick is injured early.
Fanatics Sportsbook boasts a clean, modern app with quick bet building, wide Cash Out support on eligible markets, and a strong prop catalog. Its differentiator is FanCash, a rewards currency earned on settled wagers that you can convert into bonus bets or use across the Fanatics ecosystem.
One important thing to remember about Fanatics is that it’s mobile only, so you’ll need to download the iOS or Android app. Both work flawlessly and we rate them as the best Wyoming sportsbook apps currently available. Fanatics covers all the major US pro leagues in great detail, and it also has a great live betting setup.
Wyoming NFL fans will love Caesars - it’s an official NFL partner and it also has one of the better NCAAF betting sections available where you can bet on the Wyoming Cowboys and other teams. We like that they have parlays, same game parlays, plus a range of special bets and things like bet boosts and enhanced odds for many of the games and markets.
Caesars in Wyoming keeps the build flow simple: straightforward Same Game Parlays across NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB, a deep props bench (alts, milestones, quarter/period bets), and quick in-play updates with early Cash Out on many markets. A nice perk is the tight integration with Caesars Rewards, letting routine action accrue Reward Credits inside the same ecosystem you might use when you travel.
While there are currently no major league sports teams in Wyoming, there’s still a fantastic appetite for the core US sports including football, college football, baseball, and basketball. Oftentimes Wyoming residents will follow teams in neighboring states, or follow teams that feature homegrown stars who initially came from the Equality State.
Surprisingly enough, while the NFL and college football are generally the most popular sports across the US, in the Equality State, baseball tends to have the biggest following on par with college football. There’s a host of minor league teams that have excellent support, and the Colorado Rockies also have a decent following in Wyoming.
College football is actually THE most popular sport in the state with the Wyoming Cowboys having a huge following. Some of the legal online sportsbooks do support college football wagers but there are limitations and generally in-state event betting isn’t allowed. Of course, the NFL also has excellent support and you’ll find that the Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills are followed by many sports fans.
The NBA remains popular in Wyoming and it’s featured highly at the five legal sportsbooks that operate here. You can typically make bets on all the NBA games throughout the year including the pre-season, regular season, Playoffs, and Finals. In terms of support, a decent amount of Wyoming sports fans will follow the Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz as they are both teams from neighbouring states.
The history of online sports betting in Wyoming is relatively short and the support for its legalization really started to grow in 2020. Originally, Senator Ogden Driskill proposed and sponsored House Bill 225 in 2020 which would legalize online sportsbooks both on websites and mobile devices. However, a vote was held and the bill was ultimately squashed and failed to get any further.
After this, it’s clear there was an appetite for online sports betting, and the next attempt was more successful as Representative Tom Walters proposed House Bill 133. It was ultimately passed and was signed into law in April and this meant that online sports betting was fully legalized in Wyoming.
Sports betting is generally the most popular type of iGaming entertainment in the state, but you do have other options. After online sportsbooks, horse race betting is incredibly popular, and social casinos and social sportsbooks are also becoming widely used.
Horse racing is especially popular in the state and there has been a long history of it in Wyoming. Currently, there are three race tracks that offer live horse racing and you can also place bets on the races:
If sports betting isn’t your thing then perhaps you’ll enjoy sweepstakes casinos which are legal in Wyoming. We’ve got a sweepstakes casino guide that explains how these sites work, but you essentially use virtual currencies such as Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins instead of real money to play the hundreds of casino-style games they have.
There’s no real money winnings, but you do have the chance to make cash prize redemptions with your Sweeps Coins provided you meet the minimum requirements. Wyoming has a superb range of social casinos with top brands like McLuck and Jackpota.
Similarly, the Equality State also has social sportsbooks which are the free-to-player alternative to real money sites. Like sweepstakes casinos, you use Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins or other virtual currencies to make social picks on sports competitions. There is also the potential to get cash prize redemptions from your Sweeps Coins.
We’ve got a complete social sportsbook guide and a heap of recommendations that you could try if this sounds interesting.
Wyoming also has the amazing state lottery which has been around forever. There’s a range of draws you can enter on a weekly basis and some immense jackpot prizes. Current competitions include 2by2, Cowboy Draw, PowerBall, Mega Millions, Lucky for Life, and Keno.
Physical retail sports betting is actually illegal in Wyoming which means that the only other in-person betting locations are the three racetracks:
Wyoming does have a range of bricks and mortar casino venues too.
If you’re looking for a free, legal alternative to real‑money sports betting in Wyoming, social sportsbooks are a great option. These platforms use virtual currencies like Gold Coins or Sweepstakes Coins, letting you make sports picks without placing cash wagers, while still offering the chance to redeem prizes under sweepstakes rules.
Social sportsbooks are fully accessible statewide and cover major leagues like the NFL, NBA, MLB, college sports, and more.
