The Kansas City Chiefs head into Sunday Night Football at MetLife Stadium still searching for their first win of 2025 — and once again, they’ll be without wide receiver Xavier Worthy. According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Worthy is not expected to play against the New York Giants as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury sustained in Week 1. The 2024 first-round pick, who finished second on the team in receiving last season with 59 catches for 638 yards and six touchdowns, has now missed back-to-back games.
Without Worthy, Kansas City’s passing attack is stretched thin. Rashee Rice remains suspended until Week 7, leaving Marquise “Hollywood” Brown as Patrick Mahomes’ top target. Brown has led the Chiefs in targets, receptions, and yards through two weeks, with Kelce following close behind despite also missing time early. Other contributors, including Tyquan Thornton, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Noah Gray, and Isiah Pacheco, will need to step up if Kansas City hopes to avoid its first 0-3 start since 2014.
The Giants, meanwhile, will look to capitalize on the Chiefs’ shorthanded offense and extend Kansas City’s early-season woes. Led by Russell Wilson and rookie receiver Malik Nabers, New York has shown flashes of balance with Cam Skattebo in the backfield. Our simulations still favor the Chiefs with a 67% chance to win, but the Giants are projected to cover the +5.5 spread more often than not, setting the stage for a primetime battle that could be closer than the odds suggest.
