The 2026 NFL season opens with a
lopsided Week 1 matchup: the New Orleans Saints travel to Ford Field to face the Detroit Lions on Sunday, September 13. Kickoff is still weeks away, but the early markets are already posted, and the
First TD Scorer
market is where the biggest Week 1 payouts live.
Detroit's backfield remains one of the league's most productive scoring units, and the touchdown market has priced it accordingly. Jahmyr Gibbs opens as the shortest number on the board to find the end zone first — and
has posted an interesting First TD Scorer price around him.
Featured Prop: Jahmyr Gibbs First TD Scorer (+240)
on Jahmyr Gibbs to score the first touchdown of the game against the Saints.
- The board's clear favorite:
Bet365 prices Gibbs' Anytime TD at -260, a roughly 72.2% implied chance and comfortably the shortest anytime number in the game. The book is treating a Gibbs touchdown as close to an expectation rather than a live question.
- Predictive Value:
At +240, the First TD market implies roughly a 29.4% chance Gibbs opens the scoring. That is short by First TD standards, and it reflects genuine concentration of red-zone work rather than a speculative longshot — Detroit's scoring hierarchy runs through him.
- Game script:
A 6.5-point spread and a 49.5-point total point to a game Detroit expects to control at home. If the Lions get out in front early and lean on their backfield, the goal-line volume that makes this prop land arrives naturally.

Lions 29, Saints 21.
The model also leans to the
Lions covering the 6.5-point spread, with the projected eight-point margin clearing the number. On the total, the model's projected 50-point combined score sits marginally above Bet365's posted 49.5.

Saints Vs. Lions Best Bet
Our top pick for the Saints vs. Lions game is to bet on the
Lions -6.5 (-120)
at Bet365.
Dimers' model projects an eight-point Detroit win, which clears the number with a point and a half to spare, and laying -120 on the spread is materially cheaper than the -320 the moneyline demands for the same read on the game. This expert betting advice is based on world-class modeling and valuable betting intelligence, designed to help you make more informed decisions.
Final Thoughts: Saints Vs. Lions
Week 1 opens with one of the widest lines on the slate. Detroit hosts New Orleans as a 6.5-point favorite with the moneyline out to -320, and Bet365's 49.5-point total signals a book expecting the Lions offense to move the ball freely at Ford Field.
The headline angle is Jahmyr Gibbs in the touchdown market. At +240 to strike first, he is the shortest First TD price on the board — and if you'd rather back him without needing the opening score, Bet365's
-260
anytime price is the more conservative route to the same read on Detroit's red-zone hierarchy.
