2020 Shriners Hospital for Children Golf Open: Preview, Picks, Bets and Plays

2020 Shriners Hospital for Children Golf Open: Preview, Picks, Bets and Plays

We've got ourselves a tournament here, folks! Five guys are tied for the leading heading to the weekend with a host of big names breathing down their necks.

Bryson is still right in the mix and although we faded him for the week, our Top-10 finish pick with the PointsBet odds boost (see below) is looking like a great saver!

Our Hail Mary pick in HV3 is still looking not too bad, but a bogey on the par-3 17th has pushed him right back into a busy pack.

Moving onto today's picks and we're going to tackle the SixShooter market offered up by DraftKings.

Check ‘em out👇

🏌️‍♂️ Outright winner picks

❌ The Favorite (fade):

Bryson DeChambeau

The first time we’ve seen Bryson since his emphatic U.S. Open win and he’s fairly been installed as quite a short favorite. Odds of +650 aren’t all too common these days but with the way he played at Winged Foot and just two other Top-10 players in the field this week, you can see why the sportsbooks are rating the Big Golfer so highly.

RELATED: How to place a golf matchups parlay

BUT, we actually think he may treat the next few weeks as a quasi 'preseason', where he can experiment and get his body in the right shape for the Masters next month. This means the +650 doesn’t present nearly enough value compared to some other guys that we will get into below.

Although Bryson isn't giving us enough value in the outright winner market, that doesn't mean he can't win us money! You can get him at a ridiculous +115 to finsih in the Top-10 with PointsBet. Even though we're fading him as a winner, this is simply too good to pass on.

💰 Top Pick:

Collin Morikawa (18/1*)

Bet $10, win $180

Morikawa headlines a group of incredible young talent coming through right now, and will be looking to add to his three PGA Tour wins this week. One of the most watchable swings on the Tour combined with a great attitude makes him one of the easiest guys to root for, whether you're sweating him or not.

Morikawa is coming off a break here and although its not quite the same, he has an incredible record when playing the week after a missed cut. There's going to be a time in the near future where we never see odds as long as 18/1 for this guy, so we're taking them while we can and we're making him our top pick for the week.

🔮 Hail Mary:

Harold Varner III (90/1*)

Bet $10, win $900

Our Hail Mary pick last week was Kristoffer Ventura at 80/1 and boy did he look good, finishing the week in T6, having given himself a serious chance heading into Sunday.

This time around we’re liking Harold Varner III as our long odds shot. HV3 has won previously on the European and Australasian tours, showing he has the mettle.

He’s been in good form of late, including a 7th place finish at the Wyndham Championship and a Top-30 at the PGA Championship.
