Australian Open bettor scores huge payout on rare +860 upset; here’s how much they bet and won
A FanDuel Sportsbook user backed Nikola Bartunkova as a heavy underdog in the Australian Open second round and turned a small wager into a $215 payout.

A bold tennis bettor cashed a memorable upset during the 2026 Australian Open, winning big on a massive underdog moneyline recommended by Dimers tennis analytics in the tournament's second round.

As revealed on Discord, the user known as "@🎃🚫" placed a $25.00 total wager using the FanDuel Sportsbook app on Nikola Bartunkova to win outright at +860 odds. The successful bet resulted in a $215.00 payout.

The play was recommended by Dimers as the best bet of the match in its preview for Bartunkova vs. Belinda Bencic, despite Bencic entering as a massive favorite in the pre-match odds market.

The second-round matchup was played on Thursday, January 22, 2026, and Bartunkova ultimately delivered the upset in three sets, defeating Bencic 6-3, 0-6, 6-4.

At the time the wager was placed, market prices showed just how lopsided the matchup looked on paper. Bartunkova was listed at +860 on the moneyline, while Bencic was as short as -730. That gap made the result one of the more surprising outcomes of the round, and a reminder that heavy favorites don't always cash.

As the Australian Open third round gets underway, betting markets are tightening around several headline matchups. Aryna Sabalenka (-2500) and Coco Gauff (-1400) enter as heavy favorites on the women’s side, while Carlos Alcaraz is priced at -6600 against Corentin Moutet in one of the most lopsided men’s matches of the round. Elsewhere, closer lines like Zeynep Sonmez (+120) vs. Yulia Putintseva (-150) and Iva Jovic (+110) vs. Jasmine Paolini (-138) highlight where bettors may see more competitive third-round contests as the field begins to narrow.

The women's draw saw Aryna Sabalenka as the clear pre-tournament favorite at +200, with Iga Swiatek (+480), Elena Rybakina (+750), and Coco Gauff (+850) rounding out the top contenders.
