NHL predictions and picks for today's games
Don’t send your NHL bets to the penalty box. Bring the power of statistical analysis to every puck drop with Dimers’ data-powered NHL predictions and picks.
We predict every game for all 32 teams on the NHL schedule, from October through the Stanley Cup Final. The NHL plays most nights of the week, so the table reloads with a new slate almost daily. On a 12-game Tuesday, you can see all 12 in one view.
The table gives you a quick overview of the night: a win probability for both teams in every game, next to the best moneyline price we can find across sportsbooks and prediction markets. Scan it, find the games worth a closer look, then go a level deeper.
Hit "See game predictions" on any matchup for the full set: our projected chance of the total going over or under, of each team covering the puck line, and goal scorer probabilities for the players most likely to find the net.
NHL goal scorer predictions and player props
Just want to know who’s most likely to score? Our NHL predictions also show each player’s chance of finding the net for their team.
When you click into each game prediction in the table above, you’ll also see which players are most likely to score.
If you’re looking for the goal scorer bets with the best probability and value, you want our Best NHL Player Props.
How Dimers makes our NHL predictions
We don’t guess. We crunch the numbers.
Our team of data scientists and sports experts built a machine-learning model specifically to provide bias-free predictions for every NHL game.
It estimates each team’s expected goals in every upcoming hockey game. From those projections, it then deduces the final result, accounting for overtime and shootouts.
- Tailor-built for hockey's environment: Our data scientists built a pre-game model for the NHL's three main markets. It estimates the chance of each team scoring anywhere from 0 to 10 goals, then compiles those projections into probabilities for the moneyline, total goals (over/under), and puck line.
- Overtime factored-in match by match: The model factors in the chance of a game reaching overtime and a penalty shootout. It also applies the different overtime rules for regular season and playoff games, because a three-on-three regular season overtime and a playoff overtime are not the same situation.
- Extensive offensive and defensive statistics: Goals scored and conceded, shooting and save percentages, recent form weighed against longer-term trends, the opponent in that specific game, home or away, and days of rest since the last one. No handicapper sets the numbers.
- Narrative and recency bias free by design: A hot streak, a headline, or a popular team doesn't change how a game is priced. Recent form counts, but it's balanced against a longer record so one unusual night doesn't swing a prediction on its own.
We can’t predict every bounce of the puck. But we do serve up a consistent and objective view of each bet’s chances before you make your picks.
How to read an NHL win probability
We express each betting market’s probability as a plain percentage, which tells you how the model sees the game.
We pair these with the best available prices across sportsbooks and prediction markets.
The probability tells you how many times out of 100 the model expects that result to happen. The odds tell you what the sportsbook is charging for that outcome. Put the two together, and you can see where the numbers may line up or where they don't.
- Win probability (moneyline): The chance each team wins the game, including overtime and a shootout.
- Puck line: The chance a team covers the 1.5-goal line. For the favorite, that usually means winning by two or more.
- Total goals: The chance the combined score finishes over or under the sportsbook's total.
The wise move is comparing the probability against the price. A -150 moneyline implies a win probability of about 60%. If our model gives that team a 66% chance, the numbers suggest the price may be favorable. If it gives them 55%, the odds are asking you to pay more than the model thinks the matchup is worth.
And remember, a probability is not a prediction of the final result. A team with a 71% win probability still loses about three times in 10.
NHL games can also swing quickly because there are fewer scoring events than in some other major sports. One goal, a late power play, or a hot goalie can push the final result well away from the model's projection.
If you want to spare yourself from calculating the price against the probability, we do that for you with our NHL Best Bets. It’s our daily shortlist of the strongest bets across the slate, based on probability and against the highest market price, including a percentage of how much value is on offer.
NHL betting tips for using our predictions
Our NHL predictions help you make sense of the odds. The trick is knowing when the odds offer a valuable betting opportunity.
Here are five simple ways our NHL predictions can help you feel more confident about your bets:
- Always view odds as prices, not probabilities: Our model’s chance of success tells you how often a result is expected to happen. Sportsbooks' odds and prediction markets’ trade prices tell you how much a market costs. Remembering that odds are a price, and comparing them with the likelihood of success, gives you a better basis for making betting decisions based on value. If you'd rather let us do the math, our NHL Best Bets flags the most advantageous pricing gaps each day.
- Treat the puck line as its own market: If a team's moneyline feels too aggressively priced, don't overlook the puck line. A favorite at -1.5 needs to win by two or more, making it a very different bet from simply backing the team to win. Our puck line probability can also be much lower than its win probability, so check how likely the model thinks the puck line is to hit, then compare that with the price to see if it offers value.
- Look at what's driving the total: Our projected total takes both teams' offense and goaltending into account. If you're considering an over or under, check the projection to see whether the matchup is expected to produce more or fewer goals than the market's number. This can help you understand what's behind the model's lean before comparing the price.
- Compare lines and prices across providers: The same market can be priced differently from one sportsbook to another. A moneyline might be a little higher at one book. Totals and puck lines (less common) can change too. One sportsbook might offer “Over 6.5” at one price, while another has the total at 7.5. Comparing both the line and the price can help you find the best version of a bet. Our NHL Odds table shows where each market is priced best.

Responsible gambling for NHL
Hockey runs most nights from October to April, which makes it easy to have a bet on every night rather than on the games you actually have a read on. Set a limit before the week starts and stay inside it. Treat a losing bet as money spent, not something to win back on the late game.

Your Questions Answered
How does Dimers predict NHL games?
Dimers uses data analysis and machine learning modeling to predict NHL games. Our models analyze team performance data and estimate how many goals each team is likely to score. They then use those probabilities to calculate the likelihood of different moneyline, total goals, and puck line results, including overtime and shootouts. All predictions are generated by the model without manual adjustments from a handicapper, making them bias-free and based solely on statistical chances.
Are Dimers' NHL predictions free?
Yes. Our pre-game win probabilities for every game on the NHL schedule are free and include total goals, puck line, and goal scorer probabilities for each matchup. Dimers Pro adds the full picks board, including unlimited Pro picks, Best Bets, and player props, such as anytime goal scorers.
How accurate are Dimers' NHL predictions?
A probability is not a prediction of one result. Accuracy is better judged across a season than a night. A team we put at 71% is meant to lose about three times in ten, and a model that never produced those losses would be badly calibrated. Hockey is the tightest of the major North American sports to project, because one bounce of the puck decides a large share of games. Judge our numbers the way you would judge a price: over a sample, against what the market was offering.
To see which NHL markets are producing the strongest betting results, Dimer Pro membership unlocks access to our NHL Sweet Spots, where you can see bet types and edge ranges producing positive ROI across certain sample sizes.
How often do Dimers' NHL predictions update?
Dimers provides both pre-match NHL predictions and in-game NHL probabilities. Our pre-match predictions update frequently throughout the day as new information becomes available before a game. The live model updates probabilities in real time once the game is underway, based on the current score, time remaining, game situation, and other live factors.
What is the difference between NHL predictions and NHL Best Bets?
Our NHL predictions show the probabilities for the most likely results across the moneyline, puck line, and totals. But just because something is most likely to happen doesn’t mean it’s valuable. Our NHL Best Bets take those probabilities a step further by comparing them with available odds to find bets that are priced in your favor. Predictions show what the data says is most likely to happen. Best Bets identifies the markets with the strongest value.
Does Dimers have NHL goal scorer predictions?
Yes. Click into any NHL game prediction in the table above, and the match prediction shows goal scorer probabilities alongside the moneyline, total goals, and puck line numbers. The free preview limits non-subscribers to just three goal scorer probabilities per matchup, while Dimers Pro members see the whole board. For the scorer markets that our betting model rates the strongest, see our Best NHL Player Props.
What do the puck line and total goals probabilities mean?
The puck line probability is our estimate of a team covering the goal handicap. Usually set at 1.5 goals, it means the favorite team must win by two goals or more. The total goals probability is the estimated chance of the combined score of both teams finishing over or under the posted number. When you click through to each match prediction, you see both our puck line and total goal probabilities as percentages.
Can I use NHL predictions to bet on tonight's games?
Yes. Our NHL predictions are designed to help you make more informed betting decisions. They show how likely our model thinks different outcomes are across the moneyline, totals, puck line, and player markets, so you can compare those probabilities with the odds available to you. You can use the predictions to identify bets that look interesting, or head to NHL Best Bets to see where we've already compared our probabilities with the available prices. But all our predictions are estimates, not guarantees, and it is vital to always gamble responsibly.
