Forget about slots and scratchcards, PlaySopo is an exciting app that brings you the entertainment and strategy of social poker including the classic Texas Hold’Em and Omaha variants.
In this PlaySopo review I deconstruct this social poker app to see how it works, what the multiplayer poker is like, and how you can get Gold and XP which are the two virtual currencies for gameplay and cash prize redemptions. I’ll also take a look at the various promotions such as the welcome bonus, daily login reward, and daily XP missions.
When you register an account with PlaySopo you get a 1,000 Gold welcome bonus which is effectively enough for two social poker games as the minimum buy-in is 500 Gold. This isn’t the best welcome bonus I’ve seen, but PlaySopo has a fantastic range of other promos that I explain in this full PlaySopo promo code guide. I’ve given a quick summary below:
It is possible to play social poker via the PlaySopo website if you click on the “Play in Browser” link, but I recommend downloading and installing the mobile app as its superior.
It’s also important to realize that the desktop version and mobile app version are effectively two different versions. Your profile information is used for both versions, but how you join games is different and the availability of Gold. For example, when I login to my desktop account, I cannot see my Gold balance or XP balance anywhere, or do any of the features such as claiming the daily login bonus.
For the website, you can’t just join a random game either whereas on the app there is a quick-play option that connects you with an available social poker room with players in. If you want to join a game, you have to have the invite link or create your own room. There is also the option to create poker clubs that your friends can join.
The style, color scheme, and accessibility of the website are fine, but I do not recommend it for social poker gameplay at all. It’s incredibly limited in what you can do and the best thing about it is probably the social section and news feed where you can watch live poker games.
The mobile app for PlaySopo is where the action is at! Don’t bother with the desktop version - instead, download the iOS or Android app. This is available directly via the website, or from the App Store or Google Play Store. If you download it from one of the stores, you have the benefit of your payment info being linked too if you want to purchase additional Gold.
The app is brilliant! It has full functionality and is incredibly easy to use. My only two gripes are the fact that it doesn’t remember your login information, and that there is no customer support.
Otherwise, the mobile app is perfect. Everything is easy to understand and you get a nice tutorial at the start that shows you how to use the different features. I also found the actual social poker gameplay immersive and exciting. The animations are smooth and there is a cool chat feature where you can speak to other players at the table.
PlaySopo is free-to-play and no purchase is necessary to enjoy the social poker. However, you can purchase Gold packages if you want. As you download the app either via the Google Play Store or iOS App Store, any purchases you make are done via those systems and use your linked accounts.
For example, when I purchased a Gold package, it used the Visa Debit Card I have linked to my Google Play account. As far as I can see, you can’t purchase Gold via the desktop website version either. The transaction process was smooth for purchasing Gold - it’s essentially the same as a microtransaction in a mobile game.
For my PlaySopo review I also checked the customer support methods and I found some problems. Firstly, email ticket support is available via the desktop website - you must enter your name, linked email address, subject, and details. I submitted several requests relating to XP and redemptions and I got a reply within around 1-2 hours which is decent.
However, the website doesn’t have a live chat which is disappointing. Additionally, I couldn’t find any support options on the mobile app either. You can edit your profile, purchase Gold, and make XP redemptions, but there is no chat or option to send an email ticket - you must use the website for support.
The only support the app provides is a tutorial about the different features. Tap the question mark icon in the top right-hand corner of the app and it plays a short demo which is pretty useful for understanding how things work.
For this PlaySopo review I checked out its security features, licensing, and fairness. It doesn’t have a gambling license as it’s not a real money gambling website and doesn’t need one. Instead, I checked for compliance with US sweepstakes regulations - PlaySopo offers freeplay gaming and always gives you free Gold so it is compliant.
Interestingly enough, PlaySop also has a range of certifications relating to its game fairness and payment security:
I’ve not seen many other sweepstakes casinos or social gaming sites with these credentials. I also found a valid SSL certificate and evidence of end-to-end SSL encryption for all data transfers.
I could not find any PlaySopo VIP club or loyalty scheme on either the app or the desktop website.
Due to the lack of a VIP club, you should look to make use of the other available promotions - I found the video Gold bonus particularly useful as you can claim it multiple times - you just have to watch a 30 second video advertisement and then claim your 250 Gold. By doing this multiple times you can quickly gain a decent amount of Gold for social poker games. Don’t forget to also complete your daily XP missions and claim your daily 750 Gold bonus every day too.
Yes! PlaySopo complies with US sweepstakes regulations by always offering free Gold so you can enjoy the social poker games.
PlaySopo is a social poker app where you can enjoy social poker games with other US players. You play the social poker games using Gold which you can get for free.
Not directly. However, XP is the redeemable virtual currency and you can get this via the daily missions and invite scheme. Redemptions start at a minimum of 5,000 XP.
There are currently 4 game variants - Texas Hold’Em, Omaha, Omaha 5, and Jackpot Poker.
Yes. PlaySopo has four different certifications which validates its security and game fairness.
Playing at online sportsbooks, real money casinos, and sweepstakes sites should always be safe and enjoyable. Keep control of your activity by following responsible gambling guidelines such as:
Decide on a budget you’re comfortable with and stick to it. Once it’s gone, stop playing.
Trying to recover losses often leads to overspending.
Avoid playing under the influence, or when angry, stressed, or tired.
Take breaks and ensure gambling doesn’t cut into time with family or friends.
Learn the rules, bet types, odds, and payouts before playing to avoid mistakes.
Make use of features like budget limits and self-exclusion.

For social poker gameplay you have 4 core game variants:
Texas Hold’Em and the Omaha variants are exactly what you expect and follow the standard rules while the jackpot poker has a random jackpot multiplier applied to each round of gameplay. The minimum buy-in and blind for each game is as follows:
Whenever I played on PlaySopo I always found active tables to join and the community generally seemed friendly. The games themselves have simple controls and if you have a basic understanding of poker you will be able to get to grips in seconds.
PlaySopo uses two virtual currencies - Gold and XP. Gold is what you use to play the social poker games with and the minimum buy-in is 500 Gold. You can get Gold via multiple ways including the daily login bonus, welcome bonus, and playing the social poker games.
XP is the premium currency and this can be redeemed for cash prizes when you have a minimum balance of 5,000 XP. You can also get XP via daily missions and the invite scheme.
Gold packages are also available if you want to top-up your balance, but no purchase is necessary to play the social poker. The packages start from as little as $0.99 for 1,000 Gold and if you have downloaded one of the apps, payment will be made using your linked purchasing methods.
From my testing and compilation of this PlaySopo review I rate it highly. Social poker enthusiasts will love the game variety, the competition, and the fact that you can easily get Gold. The welcome bonus is pretty poor, but this is made up for with things like the video bonus and daily login bonus.
