Welcome to our guide that’ll explain all you need to know about those Underdog prediction market fees. Well worth a look to see how to make cost-effective trades.

This guide breaks down everything you need to know about Underdog fees, so you can trade with a clear picture of what it'll actually cost you. You'll see exactly how Underdog's fee applies each time you buy or sell an event contract, walk through a few real-world examples, and get a rundown of any other charges worth knowing about at one of the faster-growing names in prediction markets.

An Overview of the Underdog Prediction Markets Fees for Trading

We found that Underdog Predict typically adds a $0.02 fee for each event contract you trade. While such fees are subject to change, here is a quick overview of what you can expect to pay:

Why Are There Underdog Trading Fees?

Underdog isn’t the only brand to apply fees to its prediction markets service, and you only have to look at our guide to the PrizePicks prediction markets fees for a good example of this.

All prediction markets sites will have to impose fees on their trades as a way of staying in business. After all, these sites will only let you buy and sell event contacts with other customers, rather than the actual brand.

As a result, the only real way these sites can generate revenue is to impose the fees described in this guide. This is because they cannot be paid via the ‘juice’ the same way online sportsbooks do. A small price to pay for being able to make hundreds of predictions from the palm of your hand.

Other Underdog Prediction Markets Fees to Be Aware of

We were pleased to find that Underdog won’t charge you for making either deposits or withdrawals on its site. What this basically means is that you can move your money around at Underdog without incurring any charges.

Just note that Underdog will charge an inactivity fee of $4 per month if you haven't used your account in the past 18 months. There probably isn’t too much chance of this happening, but it’s worth taking note of.

Beyond the standard per-contract Underdog fee, we didn't find any additional charges published in Underdog's official documents. However, if you're a high-volume trader, it's worth checking your account settings directly for anything that wouldn't apply to casual users.

An Example of How These Underdog Prediction Markets Fees Might Affect You

It’s sometimes best to take a look at a concrete example of how these fees can affect your trades. So here’s what happened when we first signed up to Underdog:

  1. The first thing that we did was to launch the Underdog homepage from our mobile browser and then follow the links to download the app to our iPhone. There weren’t any charges for downloading the app.

  2. From here, we were able to register our first account with the brand just by filling in the registration form with our name, date of birth and then creating a username and a password

  3. Next, it was a matter of verifying our account which was done by clicking on the link sent to our email and submitting a photo of our driver’s license.

  4. Now we were able to make an opening deposit of $10 with a Visa debit card, and there weren’t any fees for doing so either.

  5. Then we were able to go to the prediction markets section, browse the event contacts, and then decided to buy one contract that Nikola Jokić would be the NBA MVP for $0.25. This purchase was accompanied by a $0.02 Underdog trading fee.

  6. From here, we just hung on to that contract, and when we were ready to sell it for a profit, there was another $0.02 Underdog trading fee that was automatically added into the trade.

Pros and Cons of Using Underdog for Prediction Markets Trading

It should hopefully take just one look at our Underdog prediction markets review to see why this brand might have an edge over its rivals. However, if you are short of time, here are the main pros and cons to be aware of:

Conclusion - Our Final Thoughts About Underdog Prediction Markets Fees

We've shown you that while Underdog does include trading fees, these are pretty reasonable, and they are roughly on par with what you find on other prediction market apps. Underdog publishes its standard per-contract fee clearly, so you'll generally know what to expect when you buy or sell your event contracts.

Of course, it's worth remembering that these trading fees are likely to change over time, and we’ll make sure this guide is updated to reflect any changes. But as it stands, you should have more than enough reason to click on any of the links for Underdog in the banners of this page to sign up and start trading.
