Anthropic is an artificial intelligence safety and research company from San Francisco, California. It was founded in January 2021 by former OpenAI researchers (including CEO Dario Amodei and President Daniela Amodei).

The company’s mission is to develop useful, steerable, and safe AI, and its flagship product is Claude, a family of large language models (LLMs). Users can use it for chatting, writing, coding, long-context processing, and data analysis. The current public lineup includes Haiku 5.5 (fast and lightweight), Sonnet 5.5 (balanced), Opus 5.5 (high-intelligence reasoning and agentic tasks), and Fable 5.1 at the top tier.

Anthropic announced Claude Duet, a personal AI agent that operates independently, on October 22. It is a research preview available through a waitlist to US Claude Pro and Max subscribers. Claude Duet will help professionals and small business owners manage work tasks autonomously.

It will be designed to work continuously in the cloud, sending briefing summaries and stepping in to work independently when the real person is away.

This agent will also connect with 6,000+ business apps, be accessible through computers and browsers, and run on Opus 5.5, the task-prioritizing model.

Claude Duet asks for confirmation before important actions such as payments or deletions, and Anthropic says a dedicated classifier is meant to refuse requests to share highly sensitive data, such as credit card numbers.

Kalshi, a platform that also offers tech predictions, lists a market on when Anthropic will release a personal AI agent.

Although Anthropic is putting a lot of effort into it, it’s unlikely to develop its personal AI agent before November 1, 2026. “Before December 1, 2026” is a more likely date, but still less probable than “Before January 1, 2027”.
