Manitoba Online Gambling Laws & Regulations 2026

The Basics of Playing at Manitoba Online Casinos

As it stands, there is currently just one regulated online casino operating in Manitoba. This is the PlayNow Manitoba brand that is directly operated by the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation (MLLC). The site operates so as to give the province's gamers a safe and fair way to play, as well as ensuring that any revenues gained get funnelled into a variety of community projects and initiatives.

However, that's not the end of it, as there is little that state legislators can do to stop anyone in Manitoba from signing up to online casinos that are based outside of the province. Many casino sites accept customers from the Keystone State, although you will obviously have to be careful about which brands you use as they won't be regulated within the province.

By playing at PlayNow Manitoba, you will be benefiting from having the customer protection that is set in place by the MLLC, but you will probably experience less gaming options. In contrast, by using other online casinos you won’t get these customer protection features, but you will tend to experience much larger games portfolios. Here’s a quick recap:

• Only one regulated online casino in Manitoba
• PlayNow Manitoba is operated by the MLLC
• You can use online casinos based outside of the province

A Timeline of Manitoba Online Gambling

The past couple of decades have been remarkable in terms of how they have advanced online gambling within Manitoba. For much of the previous century all forms of gambling were banned within the province, but here is just how quickly things have changed:

• 2005: The Canadian Criminal Code was amended to allow each individual province to regulate online gambling within their borders.
• 2012: The Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation is established to help regulate the rapidly growing online gambling domain.
• 2013: PlayNow Manitoba is launched with a couple of dozen slots, table games and poker gaming options.
• 2025: Manitoba presents legal challenges to various offshore casinos to stop them from operating within the province

Pros and Cons of Using Manitoba Online Casinos

The Keystone Province is home to no less than eight physical casinos located in Winnipeg, Rosser, Carberry, Headingley, Swan Lake, Scanterbury, Ginew and Opaskwayak. So why should you play online rather than head to one of these physical casinos? Well here are the key pros and cons of playing online:

Pros and Cons

• Way more convenient
• Many more game types
• More payment methods accepted
• Play whenever you want

• Slower withdrawal times

Where Could Manitoba Online Casinos Head Next?

At the moment, it looks highly unlikely that legislators in Manitoba will follow the path carved by casinos in Ontario or Alberta. While those provinces have found plenty of success in expanding their casino markets to include commercial brands, Manitoba looks to be heading in the opposite direction.

This is because there have been renewed efforts made to block various offshore casinos from operating in the province. As a result, we can expect that efforts will be made to make PlayNow Manitoba the obvious choice for online gambling in the province, although it’s expected that little will be done to stop you playing at any of the other legit casino sites featured in the banners of this guide.

Conclusion - Get Ready to Play at These Online Casinos in Manitoba

We have shown you that Manitoba offers you some solid options for playing slots and table games online. Not only can you play at the officially regulated PlayNow Manitoba site, but you also have endless options for playing at online casinos that are based outside of the province.

Such freedom should be treated carefully, and therefore you’ll need to stick to our recommended brands and always gamble responsibly.
