The Online Lottery and Gaming Corporation is one of the major organizations responsible for lotteries and online gaming activities in the province, and Proline Plus is its premier online sportsbook brand for legal sports betting.

In this Proline Plus review, I take a deep dive into the site to find out exactly what it offers for Ontario residents. This includes the sportsbook markets, betting options, and in-play betting setup. I’ll also look at the legitimacy, usability, and accessibility of this awesome sportsbook and whether it supports mobile betting or not.

How I got on with the Proline plus website

Usability is something I prize when reviewing Ontario sportsbooks - these sites can be complex with so much info to display, so I think it’s important that users can get what they want quickly, and easily find the sports and betting markets they want to look at. In the case of Proline sportsbook, I was generally impressed with the usability and I think the brand has done a great job of making the desktop site accessible and easy to navigate.

Let’s start with the style and theme - I’m a big fan! The site uses a black, dark grey, white, and green color scheme to fit the Proline Plus branding, and I think this makes the sportsbook look smart and modern. You’ve got a black and grey background, white text, and green highlights. This again works fantastically and makes for excellent readability. I really like the small header graphics and scrolling bet graphics they use on the homepage too - they aren’t too bold and brashy and they do actually convey useful info.

For usability, you’ll find all the sports categories down the left-hand side, and I like that there’s quick links to popular active leagues at the time like the MLB and CFL. You can use a neat drop-down option for each of the sport categories too, to see the individual leagues they support - it’s just incredibly logical and makes for straightforward betting.

I think the overall flow of the website is logical too - it follows the standard left-to-right format that 99% of Ontario sportsbooks I’ve tested use. On the left-hand side, you have the main sports menu with links to the different tournaments and events. Next, in the middle, you have the main betting and game information. Lastly, on the right, you have your betslip. If you are new to sportsbooks, I think you’ll quickly be able to grasp how the site works and how to place bets.

PROLINE Highlights

Mobile apps are available for Android and iOS

While I found the Proline desktop website easy to use, I typically make most of my bets on my smartphone, so I also wanted to check the mobile accessibility. This site has a mobile-responsive browser version to start with which I found easy to use. It has the same color scheme and features as the desktop site, but the layout has been shrunk slightly to fit on smaller smartphone screens. I could easily navigate through the different sports, make bets, and manage my bet slip without any issue.

If you don’t want to mess around using a mobile browser version, there are two Proline Canada apps - one for iOS devices and one for Android smartphones. Before I installed the Android version, I checked the ratings from the two stores. The iOS version actually has a pretty poor rating of 1.4 stars from over 1,200 ratings which is one of the worst I’ve seen. Many of the complaints were related to supposed account issues where people couldn’t register or login, even though they were Ontario residents.

I can’t comment on the iOS accessibility issues, but I had no problems with the Android version. The Google Play Store version has much better ratings and it appears it doesn’t suffer from the same problems. I downloaded and installed it and I really like the design. It’s one of the sleeker betting apps I’ve found from Ontario sportsbooks and I had a blast using it. The touchscreen functionality was great, the loading times of the sports markets was quick, and I found the in-play betting section to actually be better on my smartphone than the desktop version.

Does Proline Plus have many betting markets?

Whenever I create an Ontario sportsbook review, I look at the overall sports markets provided. This is so that I know different types of sports fans are covered. For this Proline Plus review, I found the following active sports that you could bet on:

Football, basketball, baseball, soccer, golf, tennis, Formula 1, MMA, boxing, cricket, cycling, NASCAR, Rugby League, Rugby Union.

Now, I know there are some glaring options missing from this list such as ice hockey and horse racing, BUT they are available. From what I can see, and my testing, the sports listings on the left-hand side only show sports that currently have active events that you can bet on. I don’t particularly like this as it could mean you miss out. However, you can be assured that other major sports like ice hockey and horse racing are covered.

In terms of the variety and availability of the betting markets, I think this site has most of the top leagues covered. For instance, with football, you can bet on the CFL, NFL, and NCAA competitions. This includes pre-season, regular season, playoffs, and finals. There’s also loads of futures bets if you want to pick winners for things like end of season awards or Pro Bowl selections.

Soccer perhaps has the biggest range of markets and I was stunned to see how many different leagues you can bet on. It has options for all the major competitions in North and South America, Africa, Europe, and Oceania. For example European competitions you can wager on include the English Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A, and the Bundesliga. They cover most of the T2 and T3 leagues also.

How do the odds and live betting compare at Proline Plus?

I spent ages looking at the odds for the various events and comparing them with other legal Ontario sportsbooks. In all honesty, there was virtually no variance at all. From my experience, Proline Canada has fair odds that are at least on par with the market averages. This includes in-play betting, pre-match options, and futures bets.

My thoughts on the Proline Plus live betting

When creating this Proline Plus review, one of the main focuses was the live dealer setup. You essentially have in-play betting for most of the sports featured, and there is a dedicated tab you can click to show all the current live events. For example, while creating my review, I was able to see live cricket, tennis, golf, and soccer matches.

The quality of the live betting setup is great, BUT there is a little variance. I found that the more popular sports typically had a live 2D game render and showcased a load of stats you can use, but this feature wasn’t available for the lesser-known leagues and matches. Still, I think the in-play betting setup was great, and they also have a solid range of props options for both teams and players depending on the sport.

Betting limits and misc info

I think it’s also important to look at the betting limits and misc info to gain a true picture of the quality of an Ontario sportsbook. I generally found that you can bet with as little as 1 CAD or less depending on the bet type, and the setup is pretty flexible when making parlays and same game parlays. I also like that you can switch the odds type to display in American, fractional, or decimal, depending on your preference.

Proline Plus delivers sports betting excellence

Although I had a few issues with how the main sports categories are listed on the primary left-hand navigation at Proline Plus, overall, I rated the actual sports betting experience highly. You’ve got a massive range of sports, leagues, and competitions, and this isn’t just for the major USA and Canadian events - the global sports coverage is also amazing. Other features like the in-play betting setup, and the props betting variety for the popular sports are also fantastic and give you the flexibility you want from your Ontario sports betting.

What payment methods can you use at Proline Plus?

Understanding the available payment methods was a vital part of this Proline Plus review and from my experience testing the site, I found the following deposit methods - Visa and MasterCard debit cards, Interac e-transfer, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards, and Apple Pay.

Generally, it seems like you can deposit as little as 10 CAD and when I made deposits, there were never any deposit fees, and my payments were processed instantly. Please note that you may see different deposit methods to me. I was pleased with the deposit process and found it incredibly smooth and straightforward.

Withdrawals are a little more limited, and from my testing, I was only able to make withdrawal requests using Electronic Funds Transfer. The same minimum limit applies for withdrawals, and the site states that withdrawals can take up to 5 business days to appear in your bank account. I found this to be true, and I think this is an area the operator can improve as nowadays, I expect 24 hour or less withdrawals for Ontario online sportsbooks.

How is the support at Proline Ontario?

I always check that an Ontario sportsbook has access to a decent customer support setup so that I can get help if I need it. In the case of Proline Plus, you have several options including a 24/7 live chat, toll-free telephone line, email support, and a complete help center. Overall I was impressed with the support and felt confident that I could get help if I had any problems.

If you prefer to self-help, I recommend checking out the help center. It opens as a separate site, but it has a range of searchable support topics which I found useful. Alternatively, the quickest support methods are the live chat or telephone. I preferred the live chat so I don’t have to speak to anyone, and the three times I tested it, I got a reply within 5-10 minutes which I thought was fine. You do have to answer a few questions first, but these are important to help direct you to the correct support rep.

Email support is available too, but I would try and avoid this where possible as the response times are never as quick as the live chat or telephone. I sent a handful of queries via mail and although I got an automatic reply instantly, the actual support team replies usually took anywhere from 2-4 hours.

Is Proline Plus legit?

I want to assure you that we only ever review or recommend reputable online sportsbooks here, and the first thing I did when creating this Proline Plus review was look for a license. It has one, and it is actually owned and operated by the Ontario Lottery and Gambling Corporation (OLG for short). This is an official part of the Ontario government so it’s essentially a state-sponsored online sportsbook. Any Ontario resident can legally play here provided you are over 19.

The site also has numerous responsible gambling tools and links which I was a fan of. For instance, there are links to the Play Smart Canada foundation, and ConnexOntario which are two major self-help services. When I created my account, I also noted that there was a range of responsible gambling tools including the ability to set deposit limits, and a self-exclusion option with a range of different timeout periods. These features all point towards Proline Plus being a reputable operator and a legitimate sportsbook.

Lastly, I checked the website security and saw that it had industry-standard features that I expect. For example, you connect using a HTTPS connection, and there is evidence that advanced SSL encryption is used. The site has all the relevant documentation I expect also, like a privacy policy, cookie policy, player agreement, and freedom of information section.

Final verdict - is Proline Plus a top contender?

I hope you’ve had a blast reading this Proline Plus review and now have a better idea of what the site is, how it works, and what you can expect. Overall, I was incredibly impressed with the quality of the site and the mobile version, the variety of the sports betting markets, and the excellent usability. It’s just an easy website to get to grips with whether you’re a beginner or seasoned Ontario betting expert.

Of course, it’s not perfect, and I really think they need to try and improve the withdrawal processing times, but, this is a minor blip on an otherwise fantastic Ontario online sportsbook. Whether you are a fan of football, ice hockey, basketball, or global sports, I think you’ll be able to find markets you want to bet on, both live and pre-match. So, why not click the links we have here, give Proline Ontario a try today and get signed up?
