PokerStars Ontario Review 2026: Is it Legit & Safe?

I can understand if you have questions about PokerStars, especially since you will see that you have to download software. Don’t worry. I am here to shed more light on the brand through my PokerStars review.

I know that Pokerstars is popular among poker and casino players, but my eyes are firmly on the sports betting experience in Ontario. The software has no additional charges, and Ontario bettors can start the download directly from the website. The PokerStars software is available for different devices, including PC, Android and iOS.

To make things simple, I have shared a step-by-step guide on how to download the software and create a new sports betting account at PokerStars Ontario:

1. Visit the official PokerStars sportsbook with either your PC, Mac, Android or iOS device.
2. Click the download button to get the software and select Run in the pop-up box.
3. Once the download is finished, agree to the End User License Agreement.
4. Once the installation is complete, double-click the PokerStars icon to access the PokerStars Ontario casino and sportsbook.
5. Select the Create your Stars Account now banner.
6. Create a username and password for your betting account.
7. Enter your personal details, such as your full name, date of birth and mobile number.
8. Finally, select the Create Account button.

You will only need to download the software once and after it is downloaded, you can login and start placing sports bets. Please remember that all legal betting sites in Canada require bettors to submit their KYC documents for account verification. If you don’t submit these documents (proof of ID and address), you cannot make withdrawals. After submitting these KYC documents to PokerStars, it can take up to 24 hours for your account to be verified.

Next up, I am going to share my thoughts on the PokerStars sports betting features. I tested the PokerStars sportsbook as soon as I created a new account and submitted my KYC documents.

So, you can expect more betting options when wagering on La Liga compared to the Scottish Premiership.

There is a Highlights tab with the biggest sporting events, and that is a nice touch by PokerStars, as it makes it easy to filter the big games. You can access the live betting platform by clicking the In-Play tab and there are plenty of in running markets. Similar to pre-match betting, you can place live bets on most sports, including soccer, golf and tennis. The in-play odds change every few seconds, so you must be quick with your bets. Most in-play fixtures have real-time data and stats, making it easy to track the progress of games, which helps when researching your bets.

Live betting and streaming

PokerStars has live streaming for certain sports and leagues, such as the MLS and Dutch Eredivisie. However, I could not find HD streams for bigger sports tournaments and leagues like the NFL and EPL. However, there are several other sportsbook features that I did enjoy using, including the bet builder feature and cash out. These were fun and easy to use and elevated my sports betting experience.

To round up my PokerStars Canada review of the sports betting product, I am happy to recommend the sports betting platform to my fellow Ontario bettors. There are plenty of nice features, especially if you enjoy live betting and wagering on the go.

I liked that the brand stuck to its roots and did not try to reinvent the wheel or incorporate any unnecessary details. The sportsbook is easy to use, and there are several banners that make it easy to navigate. I browsed the different sections of the site and everything loads timely. The site has plenty of information, but you won’t find any clutter as all information and texts are packed in each relevant banner.

I spent some time exploring the betting markets, and all the fixtures and markets loaded as soon as I clicked the relevant buttons. The live betting platform was also easy to use, and even when odds were changing, there were no issues with suspending odds and markets. Overall, newbies should be comfortable using the sportsbook, and seasoned bettors will enjoy their sports betting experience.

I have already shared that you can download the PokerStars software for Android and iOS devices, meaning that you can use online betting apps on the sportsbook. Did you know that PokerStars were among the first sportsbooks to obtain a license from iGaming Ontario?
