The Zonko sweepstakes casino made the signup process simple by not asking me to enter a Zonko promo code when I created an account there. That meant I was in the lobby in under a minute.
I received 3,000 Gold Coins (GCs) upon signup, and I found lots more promos and bonuses that meant I could get more Gold Coins and even some Sweeps Coins (SCs) along the way too. I’ll tell you about some of those here, including the mail-in request for Sweeps Coins and the VIP program, which has seven levels.
If you’ve joined one or two other sweepstakes casinos already, you might find the Zonko offer a bit smaller than average. When you join, you will receive 3,000 Gold Coins and no Sweeps Coins. That’s a shame, as most sweepstakes casinos will give you a Sweeps Coin or two upon signup. I’ve received a bigger number of Gold Coins on other sites as well.
That said, Zonko packs in plenty of promotions and bonuses beyond this point, which isn’t something I can say of lots of other similar sites. I’ll come to those promos shortly. First, let’s see how you can use your virtual currencies at Zonko.
Gold Coins provide access to all the casino-style games at Zonko, from slots to scratch cards. You can decide how many GCs you want to play per spin on a slot, for example. However, if you win some Gold Coins, you can’t exchange or redeem them for anything else.
If I spot a new title at Zonko, I’ll always use Gold Coins first to check it out. That way, if I like it, I can switch to Sweeps Coins later once I’ve got hold of some. I’ll know that I’m playing an enjoyable slot that way, even if I don’t win any Sweeps Coins while trying it.
You’ve seen that you won’t get any Sweeps Coins upon joining Zonko. However, you can find them via a few of their promos. They also have tournaments with Sweeps Coins in the prize pool, so watch for those. If you want to play with Sweeps Coins, make sure you select them and then begin play.
There are two basic things you must remember when playing with Sweeps Coins:
In short, you can only redeem Sweeps Coins you’ve won through gaming, and not those you collect in various ways.
Before you join, it’s a good idea to check out my detailed Zonko review on this site, to make sure you know all the details about how the site works and what you can expect from a sweepstakes casino. If you’re aged 18 or over and you’re in one of the 39 US states where residents are welcome to use Zonko, go through these steps to set up your account.

Zonko then takes you into the lobby area of its website. I immediately checked my Gold Coins but didn’t see any in there. When I checked my emails, I realized Zonko had sent me an email welcoming me to the site. Click the link in that and you’ll go back to their site… but this time you’ll have your 3,000 Gold Coins waiting for you there.
Yes, it does - and I was thrilled to see it as it’s not something you can rely on finding at any casino, including a sweepstakes casino. I can reveal they have seven levels to go through, from Blue to Diamond.
I’ve joined similar sites where I’ve needed to play casino-style games to progress through those levels. Zonko sweepstakes casino does things differently. You need to pick up some stars while using the site, which you can do in a couple of ways:
They don’t reveal what you might get when you reach a new level, and I’m still progressing towards the next level up from Blue at present, so I guess we’ll wait and see. That’s one thing I think they could improve on, but they’re not going to offer a VIP program without building in some perks here and there. I did spot a VIP mission, for example.
When I signed up at Zonko, I made sure I got as much gameplay out of my 3,000 Gold Coins as I could. I’ve provided a few tips here that should help you do the same.
Once you’ve created your account, you’ll find yourself in the lobby. They don’t have too many categories to check out, but you’ll find spaces for new ones, along with those from providers such as Ruby Play and Playson. I liked the search feature too - you’ll spot it at the beginning of the few categories they do offer. You can enter a keyword - something like gold or Christmas, for example - or search for a specific title to see if they have it.
They’re not all the same, and many slots have a range of Gold Coin options to choose from. I always go for the lowest GC requirement possible, as it means however many GCs I have will last much longer.
You won’t always get more Gold Coins - you might get stars or even Sweeps Coins instead - but you won’t know until you claim it each day. For example, I collected another 100 GCs when I revealed my daily bonus on day two.
You can view these inside the bonuses area to see whether you can get any more Gold Coins for completing one of those. Some offer stars, some offer Gold Coins, some give away Sweeps Coins, and other bigger missions might give a combination of two or more of these.
Zonko is quite a new sweepstakes casino, so it feels fresh anyway. However, I noticed they offer a new titles section at the top of the lobby area. I found these slots to try when I last visited:
I’ve mentioned that the Zonko opening offer is small. However, they’ve certainly got plenty of promos detailed on their website - and that’s before you get to the bonuses section where you’ll find your daily bonus and your VIP status. Let’s check out some of the key offers now.
Some sweepstakes casinos stick to one bonus per day - and you always know what you’ll get. It’s a total mystery at Zonko, so you might get some more Gold Coins, Sweeps Coins, or stars to help you progress through the VIP program.
All sweepstakes casinos are required to offer this, which you might have heard of as the Alternative Method of Entry (AMoE). The idea is to get a code from the website and include it when following Zonko’s instructions for mailing in a request. If you go through all the required steps, you should receive 3 Sweeps Coins per request sent.
You’re never required to purchase Gold Coins, but Zonko has a first purchase deal on GCs to check out for $20. It provides you with the following things:
The offer also unlocks a Power Boost. It means you will receive other bonuses across eight days of logins, but you must make sure you never miss a login otherwise you won’t get the full package. The full amount brings you another 52,000 GCs and 25 SCs.
Zonko looks impressive when you arrive, but if you sign up you can see it from the inside - and it has much to offer. You’ll receive 3,000 Gold Coins for joining, of course, and while it’s not the biggest of welcomes, you’ll still be able to play several slots with those Gold Coins. Head over there to see what you think of the site by clicking on one of my links in this article to reach it.
You can try hundreds of slots, plus a few scratch cards, once you’ve signed up and collected those first 3,000 GCs. I’d recommend checking the promotions and bonuses pages every time you visit, as I noticed regular changes there - especially the bonuses area. That’s where you can collect your daily bonus, too, which will give you a little something extra each day.
If you’re not already a member, you can sign up to Zonko sweepstakes casino from one of 39 US states where it’s available. You can create an account using your email address and a password, which you can save for later use.
Technically, you can, but if you do not live in one of the 39 states where the site operates, you will be breaking their terms and conditions by doing so. As such, you shouldn’t attempt to create an account at Zonko if you’re not in an eligible US state.
No, Zonko is a sweepstakes casino, which means you cannot make any deposits there.
