What Exactly Is a Sweepstakes Casino?
Sweepstakes casinos are much more accessible. They can provide a service to more people than traditional casinos can, and the success is there to see. Sweepstakes casinos have snowballed in the U.S. because their business model lets players enjoy casino-style games and win prizes without the financial risks of regular gambling. These casinos operate in a way that avoids being classified as traditional gambling, allowing them to expand in states with tight gambling laws.
How Can These Celebrities Be Utilized
A sweepstakes casino can make the most of marketing these celebrity ambassadors in many ways.
TV Commercials
The rise of the internet has somewhat dampened the effectiveness of TV commercials, and fewer people watch live TV nowadays. However, it is still a potent tool. If the commercial placement is proper, it can reach a nationwide audience. Mix that with a familiar face in the ad; you will find higher engagement and people checking the site.
Social media is familiar and has been around for a long time. That means most celebrities have a large following on at least some social media platforms. This is a great way to reach the younger demographics that may miss the TV commercials. Promotions can be advertised through posts, stories, or live streams on these platforms. It will engage their fan bases to interact.
Host an Event
A brand could have a celebrity ambassador be a special guest at an event or even host the event. This would attract media attention and the ambassador's fan base, a great way to push promotions and gain further brand awareness.
Another effective method is sponsoring a celebrity's online profile. Ads on their accounts will attract their fan bases to the site and can drastically increase the number of users.
What Are The Goals When Using Celebrity Ambassadors?
Obtaining celebrity endorsements often has ulterior motives behind simply having a familiar face represent the brand. These brands will use metrics to monitor what success is achieved and where the most prominent benefits come from. What are some of these metrics that may be measured?
Attracting Potential Customers
The main goal of a celebrity ambassador is to attract new customers from their loyal fanbase, using their image and reach to reach new audiences. Select a suitable celebrity, and a sweepstakes casino could expose itself to millions of fans and potential new users. There are many different platforms and avenues to go down regarding advertising and exposure. WOW Vegas, for example, has Paris Hilton on its website as the face of the brand. Stake had Drake include ads in his live streams to reach a core part of his audience. You will often find that fans of celebrities are more inclined to use a service if their favorite personality is using it. This can be measured by monitoring website traffic when you run these ads or when the endorsing commences.
Enhancing Brand Reputation
A celebrity ambassador can increase user trust and credibility. Celebrities get seen as role models, and their image ensures trust and security. If a well-known celebrity becomes an ambassador for a brand, it is safe to assume everything is above board and legit. This metric can be measured by monitoring online forums and customer reviews. What have the people been saying since this new attention has come about?
Improve Brand Recognition
With more and more sweepstakes casinos entering the market, it is quickly becoming crowded, and standing out is becoming increasingly important. This is where a celebrity ambassador can provide an edge over the competition. Using a name such as Paris Hilton or Drake has a massive pull and brings attention to the brand. This can help a sweepstakes casino stand out within the crowded market and gain a larger market share.
Some celebrity ambassadors' core aims and objectives, such as the ones above, are straightforward to measure. These are good examples of how easily a celebrity can influence many critical areas of a brand.
Possible Consequences of Celebrity Ambassadors
Despite all the positive impact a celebrity ambassador may have, there are potential consequences and opportunities for failure. This could be due to poor marketing strategy or even just bad press for the celebrity, such as a scandal.
Ethical Concerns
A celebrity endorsing and even glamorizing gambling can be seen as unfavorable. Despite all the responsible gambling awareness and tools available, it is still an addiction for many, and endorsing that can bring ethical concerns. Many celebrities also have younger audiences now, with social media being so prominent in everyday life, so there is the issue of underage gambling possibly occurring.
Celebrity Scandal and Controversies
Being in the public eye every day means that any time a celebrity makes an error of judgment or genuinely does an act of outrage, it gets broadcast for the whole world to see. Celebrities are only human, too, and they make mistakes just as any other average person does. If an ambassador receives negative press, it will most likely affect the brand's reputation. This can cause lasting damage to a sweepstakes casino.
Risk of Losing Followers
Admitting to be an ambassador also carries risks for the celebrity. Some fans may perceive agreeing to endorse a sweepstakes casino as selling out, leading to backlash and possibly losing followers.
Final Thoughts
Celebrity ambassadors can bring new levels of success and engagement to untapped audiences. If strategized correctly, there is no reason for it to fail. That is the tricky part: if the brand image is slightly off or they get the wrong personality, it can backfire.
