I received a generous BigPirate signup bonus when I joined. I got 10,000 Gold Coins (GCs), along with two Diamonds and two Rum when creating my account. Once I'd verified my email, I got another 10,000 GCs too.
It took moments to join, and once I’d done so, I could check out other promotions and options as well. I’ll explain more about their Daily Challenges, the Claw Machine, and their VIP program. They’ve got a Reward Market where you can exchange Rum for various perks, too, as you’ll see in my bonus review.
My welcome bonus arrived in two parts, so I’ll give you details of both here to explain how it works. If you’re new to the idea of playing at sweepstakes casinos like BigPirate, don’t worry - I’ve written a complete BigPirate review you can read before you get started.
If you set up an account to play at BigPirate, you’ll get three things, each tapping into a different part of the site:
You must verify your email to gain access to the BigPirate website, so you can begin looking around. When I signed up, their email dropped into my inbox seconds after applying. I then clicked on the link they provided to confirm it and went straight into the website proper. All very quick and easy to do.
I then saw my Gold Coin balance at the top of the screen and in the menu, confirming that I’d received another 10,000 GCs for confirming my address. My two Diamonds were there too. Your Rum bottle total appears at the top of the screen, too.
Just to be clear, Diamonds work the same way as Sweeps Coins do on other sweepstakes sites. Rum is different - it’s a form of gamification you can use to get extras from the Reward Market, which I’ll come to a bit later in this guide.
I’ll take you through the signup process here to explain what you need to do to sign up. I found the whole process very easy and quick to go through:
You should then find yourself inside your new account, with a total of 20,000 Gold Coins to use, plus your first two Diamonds and two Rum. I wasn’t asked to include a BigPirate promo code when joining, but I’ll provide details here if anything appears.
BigPirate currently operates in 40 US states, welcoming those aged 21 and over who wish to play. You can’t sign up from Washington, California, New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Louisiana, or Connecticut.
If you play with Gold Coins, you’ll be playing social games with no real prize potential involved. However, if you play using Diamonds, you’ll play sweepstakes games. You cannot directly redeem Diamonds that you collect; you can only redeem Diamonds that you’ve won while playing sweepstakes games.
You need to amass 50 or more Diamonds in winnings to be able to redeem them for a gift card or cash prize. You must also provide a suitable photo ID and verify your identity and address to comply with KYC rules before you can redeem your Diamond winnings at BigPirate. This all confirms that BigPirate follows sweepstakes rules fully, so you know you’re using a safe site.
When I first accessed the BigPirate website as a site member, I could see the VIP section in the menu. Once inside, I found that I was a Deckhand - the name for the first level of the program. You’ve got four more levels to aim for beyond that:
You can see they’ve used the pirate theme nicely here to take you from Deckhand up to an Admiral if you can make it that far. Players reaching the Buccaneer level will receive a VIP manager from that point onwards. You’ll also get some Rum if you get to Buccaneer level or above, along with a share of the plunder, which means receiving another reward from the VIP manager.
You’ll see lots more promos around the site once you settle in. I’ll go through some of the main ones here, providing you with a few details about each. As you’ll see, BigPirate provides many more possibilities and variety compared to other sweepstakes casinos. I didn’t need any BigPirate promo codes to take part in any of the following elements either.
I found this the easiest promo to participate in. Check out the daily options whenever you log in to see what’s there. I had a few to choose from when I first signed up, such as:
Upon completing a challenge, I would receive a number of Gold Coins. Those vary in number depending on the challenge. You’ll see a similar stance with the weekly challenges, although they tend to be bigger as you’ve got seven days to complete them. Here are a couple of examples:
You’ll find a link to this in the main menu. You need a Claw Machine credit to play it, which you can get from the Reward Market (more on that in a second). You need 20 Rum to swap for one go on the Claw Machine. You’ll then use it like a real claw machine, trying to grab an item which then gives you some spins or possibly one or two Diamonds.
You know that you’ll receive some Rum just for signing up, and you can get some in other ways too, including via the VIP program. You can then swap some Rum for items in the Reward Market. You can get spins for various slots there, plus some Claw Machine credits.
Here’s something else I found in the menu at BigPirate sweepstakes casino. To get a spin on this wheel, you need to play with 100,000 Gold Coins in the social casino. You then take a spin and see what you get. You’re assured of receiving something from the wheel, but it doesn’t say what that could be… and I’m working towards hitting 100,000 GCs in play to get my first spin.
Logging in daily is a good idea, as you’ll get more rewards for doing so. When I clicked on the Rum bottle, it opened a BigPirate title to spin. I then received some Skull tokens to help me build an island. It’s a bit involved, but the site walks you through the process.
You can then open a daily calendar to claim a Rum bottle on day one. I noted another Rum bottle per day for the first seven days of membership, but they do suggest the rewards will improve the longer you maintain your streak.
I’d recommend accessing the BigPirate tutorial for this island-building feature - you’ll spot it in the menu. I found it easier to understand this part of the BigPirate website once I’d read it. For example, I realized I could shield my island from attack… and potentially attack others too, in search of some more Skull icons.
You use Diamonds to play sweepstakes games. As the site meets all sweepstakes requirements, you cannot ever purchase any Diamonds. You do have other ways to collect them though, and one such way is known as the Alternative Method of Entry.
If you follow the procedure for requesting Diamonds by mail, you will receive two Diamonds per successful request that you make. I found mailing instructions in their sweepstakes rules.
While some sweepstakes casinos only give away a few Gold Coins to begin with, BigPirate lives up to the big part of its name by offering 10,000 Gold Coins, 2 Diamonds, and 2 Rum when you sign up. You’ll swiftly get another 10,000 Gold Coins once you verify your email account too.
I found plenty more promos and events happening at BigPirate sweepstakes casino, so if you enjoy that kind of thing, I think you’ll like what you find there. Rum bottles add a gamification element that I’ve rarely found elsewhere, and I loved the pirating theme. You can visit BigPirate by using any of the links I’ve provided you with throughout this article, to consider signing up to become a member today.
No - BigPirate is a sweepstakes casino, so you cannot make deposits there at any point. They do provide 10,000 Gold Coins, 2 Diamonds, and 2 Rum when you create an account, plus another 10,000 Gold Coins once you’ve verified your email address to join with.
No - you will receive the standard welcome bonus without using any type of code. All you need to do is to visit the website and follow the signup process to receive your bonus.
Unfortunately, no - you must be aged at least 21 years to become a member of the site. You must also live in one of 40 US states where BigPirate currently operates its sweepstakes casino.
