We know you may be wondering whether Sleeper Markets is legal in the US. The short answer is yes, it's available. But since we’re no legal experts, we’d rather talk about its availability in the US than its legal status.
One thing we like is that Sleeper Markets is available in most US states, but you only get to make predictions on sports team picks. So, if you want more market categories like politics and economics, then Sleeper Markets definitely isn’t for you. Still, we were impressed by the number of sports available, which was reason enough to sign up.
The Sleeper Markets product is new in town, and you may be wondering which US states it’s available in. Well, we can’t say for sure where it isn’t available, since the site didn’t make that clear to us, but we do know it's accessible in most states, as the site mentioned.
But here's how to know whether your location is eligible for a Sleeper Markets account. By that, we mean if you have the app and are in one of its restricted states, you’ll see a geo-restriction pop-up when you want to create an account. That should tell you that your location isn’t eligible yet.
Still, supported states have some limitations about using the Sleeper prediction market product, including age restrictions varying by state. Though most states set the standard age limit at 18, Alabama’s age restriction is 19. But if you live in either Virginia or Massachusetts, the minimum age is higher (21).
Even if you sign up from an eligible state, you can't place trades on the app until you complete KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. This is required even before making your first deposit. But don’t sweat it. The KYC verification process doesn’t take long to complete. Just upload a valid driver’s license, provide your SSN, and submit a selfie photo, and that’s it.
The table below shows the key requirements for traders living in supported states where Sleeper Markets is available:
| Age requirement | 18+ (19+ in Alabama) (21+ in Massachusetts and Virginia) |
| Predict trades where? | Only on its native app (iOS and Android) |
| KYC verification a must? | Yes, before the first deposit to start trading |
You’ve probably heard of Sleeper because its site already exists with a different product. But have you heard of Sleeper Markets? It’s a prediction market product that lets you trade on real-world events by choosing either a Yes or No contract based on your expected outcome.
Unlike other similar sites where event contracts cut across categories such as politics, culture, economics, and climate, Sleeper Markets has only sports contracts to show for itself. Though we saw multiple sports contracts, they were also limited to team picks. You’d find sports events like MLB, golf, soccer, MMA, NFL, tennis, and more to trade.
But the team picks were what we especially liked about the prediction product. From team outcomes and game winners to point spreads and season trophy cup winners, we had everything to predict on our best teams in our favorite sports events.
The main thing, though, is how these trades play out in eligible states. Each available market has a Yes/No contract. So, if we choose a “Yes” contract, it means we believe it will happen. Choosing the “No” contract, on the other hand, means we don’t see a likelihood of the outcome happening. For each correct contract you get, Sleeper Markets settles you at $1. Getting a contract wrong pays you $0.
But note that Sleeper Markets charges a $0.01 trading fee per contract. Because Kalshi powers the prediction trades exchange here, you’d also pay an extra $0.01 exchange fee to them. That brings your total Sleeper Markets fees to $0.02 per contract.

Sleeper Markets didn’t ask us for a code when we signed up. We had the same experience with ROLR, another new prediction site, during our ROLR promo code review. We also only started placing trades after downloading the native app, because we were directed to do so right after sign-up.
Here are the pros and cons of Sleeper Markets that eligible traders should note:
You’d enjoy Sleeper Markets if you’re more into sports team picks than other market categories. It’s also available in most US states, so we’d say that’s an added plus in our good books. Still, Sleeper Markets' weak spot is the lack of options for traders who like to switch between market categories during trade predictions.
If you don’t mind that limitation and prefer sports trades, you’ll like Sleeper Markets. We’re saying this because it gives you multiple sports event contracts to enjoy, so you have plenty of options to choose from. Also, download the app for your trades if you’re an eligible trader.
