How Do OG Event Contracts Work?

Updated: Aug 18, 2026, 8:21 AM ET

OG is a legit US prediction trading exchange where you can buy and sell contracts for predictions relating to sport, politics, and other real-world events, and at the core of this operation are OG event contracts.

As you will see below, together with the actual predictions themselves, these are the building blocks of what makes this site work, and the peer-2-peer trading setup. We’ve got plenty of experience with OG event contracts and the predictions, so we’ve used that knowledge to create a comprehensive starter guide as an introduction.

What Are OG Event Contracts?

OG operates through Crypto.com Derivatives North America, which is a CFTC-registered Designated Contract Market (DCM). It is a prediction trading exchange which has three core components relating to the actual trades you can make:

  1. The prediction.
  2. The yes event contract.
  3. The no event contract.

In this OG prediction market review, we are specifically looking at the yes and no event contracts and how they work.

An Event Contract Is a Single Yes or No Item Linked to a Prediction Market

Each prediction at OG has either a single yes or no event contract, or a series of yes/no event contract options.

These yes/no options are OG event contracts.

You can buy and sell them via the P2P network with other OG customers for a price of less than $1.

You Can Buy, Sell, and Settle OG Event Contracts

OG event contracts are basically the thing you trade on this exchange. Their base value is $1, and this is what you get in return if you settle your event contract in-the-money, which means that you got the prediction right. The price of an OG event contract is typically less than $1, and it is determined by the trade volume for that prediction, and public sentiment relating to the potential outcomes.

For example, if a YES OG event contract has a trading price of 87c, this means that most of the traders involved in this prediction think that the YES outcome is the more likely thing to happen. Please note though, that market sentiment does NOT mean guaranteed results - people can get things wrong, and you have the potential to get zero returns from your OG event contracts if they settle out-of-the-money if you decide to hold them. You can go to og.com for more information.

Pros and Cons of OG Event Contracts

Overall, we’ve always had positive experiences using the OG event contract system - once you get past the terminology it’s pretty easy to understand with the yes/no options. Also, the fee structure is minimal, and we like how OG presents its predictions. We do think the trade volume could be improved slightly though, as some less-popular predictions can suffer from poor liquidity meaning it might take longer to fulfill your trade orders.

Examples of OG Event Contracts in Action

When you look at our list of prediction market apps, OG is up there with the top options when it comes to sports event contracts, but it also offers other categories including politics, crypto, financials, culture, and economics. To give you an idea of some of the event contracts you can trade, we’ve given you some examples of live predictions we took from the OG site at the time of writing this guide:

For the second prediction, you can clearly see how OG event contracts work. If you think that the Democrats will control the House, you can purchase “yes” event contracts at 90c each. However, if you think the Republicans will still hold the House, you could opt to trade the “no” event contract for 17c.

This is in essence how event contracts work. You will either have a single yes/no option like in the US House of Representatives prediction, or there will be a series of options, each with their own yes/no options. For instance, with the Pro Basketball Champion prediction, there are yes/no options for multiple teams such as Oklahoma, San Antonio, Boston, and New York.

Conclusion - OG Event Contracts Are What You Trade in Relation to Predictions

So, OG event contracts are the yes and no options relating to predictions. You can trade these with other customers for the large range of predictions that this operator offers. There’s then the chance of trying to trade your contracts for a return, or settling them (hopefully in-the-money), at which point you have the chance of getting a $1 return for each successful contract.
