Polymarket, a pioneer among US prediction markets, has added new responsible trading features: sportsbook-style controls and trader self-exclusion.
On 30 September 2026, Polymarket added sportsbook-like controls, such as deposit limits and self-exclusion. Traders on the platform can better manage their trading habits and avoid letting things get out of control.

As the security of prediction markets grew, Polymarket added voluntary self-exclusion, deposit limits, mental health and support partnerships, and trust and safety programs.
Let’s check them out one by one:
The first, self-exclusion, is when a trader decides to take a break from this activity for 30 days, one year, or permanently. During this time, they can rethink their decisions, devote themselves to other hobbies, duties, or whatnot, or even realize they don’t want to return to trading.
Polymarket’s announcement does not say whether self-exclusion carries over to other prediction market sites. For example, if you exclude yourself from Polymarket, you also won’t be able to trade on the rest of the prediction market sites with this feature. Polymarket has not said whether a request can be reversed before the chosen period ends.
As the name suggests, deposit limits set an amount beyond which you cannot fund your account. Limits can be daily, weekly, or monthly. Lowering a limit takes effect immediately, while raising or removing one requires a cooling-off period. If you spend this amount and try to fund your account again the same day, you won’t be able to because of the restrictions.
We recommend setting a budget based on what you can afford to spend, and setting all three deposit types as soon as you join Polymarket or other sports prediction sites that offer this option.
Mental health and support partnerships matter for traders, as this activity can be overwhelming. Trading can quickly shift from entertaining to burdensome, making customers nervous about losing contracts and emotional when they are not successful.
Also, some traders may forget when to stop and end up spending more than planned, only to feel bad about it later. The list can go on, but it’s crucial to realize that, in those moments, traders are not alone. They can refer to Polymarket’s resources for mental health and support sites, helplines, or other organizations that support persons with addiction problems.
At Polymarket, customers will also find trust and safety or user protection pages, where this brand explains how it protects their data, privacy, transactions, and trades. Traders will also find community guidelines that help them trade safely and avoid account suspensions or having their winnings taken away.
Overall, these are useful, practical tools for any trader, especially sports traders. We highly recommend consulting them if you sign up with Polymarket, a platform that’s taken serious steps toward offering a safer, more trustworthy trading environment.
