The most highly anticipated video game over the past decade, Grand Theft Auto 6, is set to release in November this year. The previous and popular GTA game came out in 2013, and the current 13-year delay has fans wondering whether the newest iteration will be available any time soon.
Rumors about GTA 6’s release date and postponement have broken the internet, with fans often wondering if they’ll be alive when it eventually comes out. The entire phenomenon has now taken on a life of its own, with Polymarket, one of the most popular prediction market sites, now offering prediction markets on GTA 6’s release date.
Originally, everyone expected GTA 6 to release in 2025. The very first trailer for it went live on Rockstar’s social media accounts in December 2023. This was also the first official confirmation that a new GTA game was in the works.
Subsequently, Rockstar postponed GTA’s release to May 26, 2026. And as expected, fans weren’t happy about it, venting their frustrations online and blasting Rockstar for failing to meet the initial release date.
But another delay was inevitable; Rockstar announced in November 2025 that the new release date would be November 19, 2026. And what’s also a little bizarre is that Rockstar has yet to announce an official release date for the PC version of GTA 6.
Notorious for prioritizing polish and quality, it’s really no surprise that Rockstar continues to delay GTA 6’s release. Plus, the estimated budget for this game is expected to be anywhere between $1 billion and $2 billion, so Rockstar is taking extra time to make sure they get it right.
Rockstar released an extended look of GTA 6 on Netflix in August 2026. It features the game’s two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, who engage in criminal dealings and shootouts. It also gave us a glimpse into the relationship and connection between these two characters.
The extended look showcases landscapes and other visual environments that emulate southern Florida. Rockstar even shows us what kayaking and scuba diving will look like within the game.
So far, there’s no indication that another delay is imminent. Rockstar is already accepting preorders for GTA 6, and the extended look shows us that the game already looks incredibly polished. Still, GTA fans are flocking to prediction market sites to try and have their say about this rare opportunity in gaming culture predictions.
November is very much an achievable release date, especially now that Rockstar has given us a sneak peek at GTA 6. Another delay actually seems avoidable now, but don’t blow a gasket if Rockstar backs out again.
