The race for Best R&B Album at the 2027 Grammys is taking shape, and prediction traders currently see Kehlani as the artist to beat.

like Kalshi, Kehlani currently has an 81% chance of winning as of the market shown on October 19.
The important detail is that this market is running before the nominees are known. The Recording Academy will announce nominations on November 16, so prices could move sharply once the final Best R&B Album shortlist is confirmed.
Why Is Kehlani the Favorite?
Kehlani has a strong case, since her self-titled album “Kehlani” follows a breakthrough Grammy year. At the 2026 Grammys, “Folded” won Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song, giving the artist the first two Grammy wins of her career.
“Folded” also appears on “Kehlani”. Rolling Stone reports that the album has passed 500 million Spotify streams, spent 11 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 and became Kehlani’s first No.1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
That success has also translated into strong award expectations; Rolling Stone currently predicts Kehlani will be nominated for Best R&B Album and ultimately win the category.
Which Other Albums Could Challenge Kehlani?
The official nominations are still a month away, so Kalshi traders are effectively trying to predict two things: which releases make the ballot and which one eventually wins.
Rolling Stone’s currency predictions after Kehlani are Bruno Mars’ The Romantic, Brent Faiyaz’s Icon, Jill Scott’s To Whom This May Concern and Summer Walker’s Finally Over it.
That gives the category plenty of potential competition. Jill Scott returned with her first album in more than a decade, while Bruno Mars and Summer Walker add established Grammy names to the possible field.
The Recording Academy’s eligibility window for the 2027 awards ran from August 31 2025 to August 28, 2026, with first-round voting closing on October 22.
What Could Move the Kalshi Market?
The biggest date to watch is November 16, when the Recording Academy reveals the nominees. If Kehlani receives the expected nomination, attention will shift toward how strong her chances are against the actual finalists. A surprise omission would have the opposite effect.
After nominations, final-round Grammy voting runs from December 10 through January 7, before the 69th Grammy Awards take place on February 7, 2027 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
For now, Kehlani holds a commanding early lead, but with nominations still weeks away, the Best R&B Album race is far from settled.
