The only current available sportsbook in Florida is Hard Rock Bet. It’s the state’s lone legal option under the Seminole compact, and it’s been live statewide since December 5, 2023. If you’re betting from Miami to Pensacola, this is the platform you’ll be using.
Hard Rock Bet is Florida’s lone legal online sportsbook. Markets cover the major U.S. leagues plus international events, with all the Florida pro clubs and in-state college programs easy to find in-app. Live betting is a focus, including true micro-markets via the operator’s Simplebet integration. Note one Florida-specific point: the Seminole rules prohibit individual college player props.
Ongoing value after signup is solid. You’ll see regular odds boosts and user-applied Profit Boosts (with clear max-stake and expiry terms on each boost), “The Hundred” flash boosts that crank select markets up to 500% for the first 100 bettors, and a loyalty layer that combines guaranteed weekly Legendary Reward Drops with Unity by Hard Rock so sportsbook play earns perks across Hard Rock properties.
Sports are a visible part of life in Florida, and if you spend even a week here, you’ll see it in the packed stadiums, sports bars, and tailgate parties. Floridians are fully engaged year-round with football Sundays, midweek basketball games and everything in between. Here are some of the most popular sports to bet on.
Florida is home to three NFL franchises: the Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Jacksonville Jaguars. Betting on NFL games is one of the most popular options at retail sportsbooks. You can wager on a good number of markets like moneylines, point spreads, totals, and player props, though availability may vary. DFS and sweepstakes sites also allow you to place picks on weekly matchups and contests throughout the season.
Florida’s NBA scene is all about the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic. Most bettors' interests are in futures and game-by-game markets. The Magic, on the other hand, are a favorite for fans who love tracking young talent and rooting for underdogs. Basketball betting is steady throughout the long NBA season, and DFS sites let you build lineups around Florida’s stars.
Another betting focus in the Sunshine State is college sports. The Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, and Miami Hurricanes are top competitors in football, especially during rivalry games and bowl season. NCAA basketball gives you more events to follow and bet on, with state teams competing in major conferences and March Madness providing opportunities to wager on brackets and individual matchups. There are restrictions on college props betting, but daily fantasy sites still offer legal contests for both football and basketball.
Florida is home to two MLB teams, the Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins. The Rays’ consistent postseason appearances make them a good option for futures bets. The Marlins are often followed by bettors interested in younger rosters. Florida also hosts spring training, with exhibition games providing additional opportunities to watch and wager on baseball.
The Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers have raised the profile of hockey in Florida with notable playoff success in recent years. Betting activity tends to increase during the postseason, including wagers on series outcomes, game totals, and player performance props.
In states without legal sports betting such as Florida, sites like Monkey Knife Fight, which allows you to legally bet on props in FL, and FanDuel Fantasy are both great options.
Sports betting in Florida became legal in 2021 after the state signed a new 30-year gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe. This agreement grants the Tribe exclusive control over both retail and online sports betting, so all wagers go through Seminole servers. This means Florida hasn't passed a regular sportsbook licensing model; instead, all sports betting relies on the Tribe which has received federal approval.
The Seminole Tribe launched its Hard Rock Bet app in November 2021, but legal challenges from rival operators and anti-gambling groups stalled their progress. But after multiple court battles, a federal appeals court upheld the compact in 2023, and later in the same year the U.S. Supreme Court declined to intervene. This cleared the way for the Seminoles to relaunch Hard Rock Bet and expand retail sportsbooks inside their casinos. Right now, the Seminole Tribe is the only legal sports betting operator in the Sunshine State.
