Bettor Wins Nearly $1 Million on Six-Leg NBA First Basket Parlay

One lucky parlay bettor is $880,178.40 richer thanks a $10 investment on six-leg first basket parlay with FanDuel Sportsbook. It’s crazy that someone was able to take a measly $10 and turn it into the incredible sum of nearly $1 million on an NBA parlay. The parlay included Anthony Davis, Kelly Oubre Jr., Kristaps Porzingis, Jakob Poeltl, Jaylin Williams, and Wendell Carter Jr.

Leg 1: Anthony Davis First Basket (+500)

Anthony Davis started the scoring for the Los Angeles Lakers against his former squad, the New Orleans Pelicans. After recording the first score of the game, Davis led his team to a 123-108 victory, while recording 35 points, 17 rebounds, and an assist.

It’s impressive that the bettor had the foresight to take AD for the first bucket given the other high-quality players in the game (Brandon Ingram, D’Angelo Russell, etc.).

When you consider that AD is usually around that 15% to 16% mark to make the first bucket, the +500 odds available wasn't exactly great value.

Leg 2: Kelly Oubre Jr. First Basket (+550)

Kelly Oubre hit the the first basket prop of the Hornets and Cavs game last Tuesday. Oubre followed this up by leading both teams in scoring with 28 points.

The Cavaliers ended up taking care of business against Charlotte, eventually winning the game 120-104.

Regardless this was a great call by the bettor, especially when considering that the Hornets are a “share the wealth” kind of team when it comes to scoring since LaMelo Ball’s injury.

Oubre is traditionally around an 11% chance to make the first bucket in his games.

Leg 3: Kristaps Porzingis First Basket (+400)

The Washington Wizards blew out the Detroit Pistons last Tuesday, beating them by 20 points (117-97).

The blowout began with the opening bucket from Kristaps Porzingis. This was an impressive bet as the Wizards’ scoring typically begins with star shooting guard Bradley Beal.

Beal ended up leading the game in points with 36, but Porzingis had a good game in his right.  He got 18 points along with 7 boards and 4 helpers.

Porzingis is often around the 12% to 13% range in terms of first basket scorers, so when you consider the most likely scorers are usually 17% and above, this is a great hit.

Leg 4: Jakob Poeltl First Basket (+550)

The Toronto Raptors shocked some fans when they beat the Western Conference leading Denver Nuggets by 15 points.

The Raptors’ upset win was started by Jakob Poeltl’s bucket in the game’s first minute. Poeltl had an efficient game the rest of the way, and he record a 12-point double-double.

Poeltl is having the best year of his career to this point, averaging a career-high 14.8 points per game.

Like Porzingis above, Poeltl is not exactly a sure thing when it comes to first basket betting and is in that same 12% -13% bracket - so another diamond in the rough for sure.

Leg 5: Jaylin Williams First Basket (+1000)

This is the kicker right here! The Oklahoma City Thunder have been a fun team to watch all season, and last Tuesday was no different. Jaylin Williams doesn’t score much, evidenced by the face he only averages 5.8 points per game.

Another element that made this best so impressive is the fact that Williams only played 18 minutes in the game. This was a great call by the bettor since Williams is generally rated less than a 10% to score the first basket and is always big odds to do so.

Leg 6: Wendell Carter Jr. First Basket (+550)

Wendell Carter Jr. scored the first points in the Orlando Magic’s loss to the San Antonio Spurs last Tuesday.

Carter wound up getting a 16-point double-double in the loss.

The Orlando man has improved greatly over the past two seasons, averaging 15 points and 8 rebounds to become a legitimate NBA player and threat.

He is just one of many young pieces the Magic have put in place to help re-build their roster.

There you have it. The six legs that netted one bettor $880,178.40, thank you very much!

All in all, this incredible parlay just has to be seen to be believed. At combined odds of nearly 90,000/1, this psychic bettor should be thanking his lucky stars that he was able to walk away with a huge sum of money from a simple $10 NBA parlay.
