The NL West continues to intrigue; just when you think the Mets have it all sewn up, the Braves return fire. Atlanta have been on fire so far this week, beating New York over the past two nights to once again spice things up in their race to win the division. While the Mets have been humbled, they'll get one of the best aces on the mound tonight in Max Scherzer (8-2, 1.93 ERA). Scherzer has been uber reliable since his return from injury in early July and is New York's best chance of salvaging something from this week. He'll keep the Atlanta offense limited and give his run offense the best chance to thrive.

Rockies vs. Cardinals, 7:45PM ET

Life has gotten off to a pretty good start for Jordan Montgomery in St. Louis since the pitcher's trade away from New York, notching two starting wins from two attempts without giving up a run, including one of those against his former team. He'll get the chance for another cushy start against the Rockies, a team that is sluggish on the road with an 18-37 record and a pitiful offense that averages just 3.29 runs per game. Their league-worst defense will be put to the test with Germán Márquez (6-9, 5.08 ERA) a costly pitcher on the mound.

Athletics vs. Rangers, 8:05PM ET

The A's were finally able to break their 9-game losing streak in last night's game against Texas, but any joy might be short lived with Adam Oller (1-5, 7.26 ERA) heading to the bump. Oller has been leaking runs with regularity and could find himself in a shootout with Cole Ragans (0-1, 4.82 ERA) coming off a horrid start last time out, giving up 5 runs against the Astros in just 4 innings. This looks to be a runfest.
