Men’s Draw

Overview: With the bizarre times we currently live in, the US Open will go ahead without a number of the big guns. It may not be of the quality that we’re used to, but nonetheless we’re excited to have some tennis on our screens! With Rafa and Roger both absent, it may present an opportunity for one of the ‘next-gen’ to finally break through and win a major, or, alternatively, it gives Novak a soft kill. If you're keen on some tennis action, you can review the best legal online sportsbooks in your area, here.

➖ odds is what you BET to win $100
➕ odds is what you WIN if you bet $100

🔥 Best Bet:

Novak Djokovic (+100)

Bet $100, win $100 @ PointsBet

The +100 on offer from PointsBet is incredible value (he's -125 elsewhere) as this tournament absolutely looks to be Novak’s to lose! With Federer and Nadal both sitting out, he’s in the box seat to claim his fourth US Open title and eighteenth major. The Serbian has been flawless this year holding an undefeated win-loss record and his form at the Cincinnati Masters suggests that he’ll be extremely hard to beat. If that wasn’t enough, he’s reached the final seven of the past nine times he’s played at Flushing Meadows! Only injury seems capable of derailing the Djoker.

💰 Value Pick:

Stefanos Tsitsipas (+750)

Bet $100, win $750

Despite the Big 3 dominating the majors for the last decade, the US Open has been the one event that's given some underdogs a look in. If Djokovic does bow out early, the draw opens up for one of the ‘next-gen’ to pounce and announce themselves on the big stage. We saw Daniil Medvedev threaten to break through last year, pushing Rafael Nadal to five sets in the final, but the one we’re keen on this year is Stefanos Tsitsipas. On his day he is good enough to beat anyone and is now developing some more consistency into his game which will stand him in good stead here. It is worth checking to see if he sits on the same side of the draw as Djokovic before you bet him, but his straight sets wins over Kevin Anderson and John Isner at the Cincinnati Masters read well for his chances, despite losing in the semi finals to Milos Raonic there.

🔮 Outsider:

Roberto Bautista-Agut (+2800)

Bet $100, win $2800

While his record at the US Open isn’t that pretty, Bautista-Agut may be one of the beneficiaries of a weakened draw and he did push Djokovic all the way at the Cincinnati Masters, before losing their semi final in 3 sets. If you consider he made a semi-final at Wimbledon and quarter-final at the Australian Open (2019), he looks to be insane odds at +4200. There isn’t too much flash to his game like some of the younger contenders, but he never gives in and playing five sets seems to bring the best out of him. At big odds the World No.12 could make a play deep into the tournament. Consider him for markets such as ‘to make the quarter-finals’ if he is on opposite sides of the draw to Djokovic.

Women’s Draw

Overview: While the men’s titles have been dominated by the top seeds, the women’s draw could not have been more unpredictable in recent years. The majors have thrown up some wild results and we expect this year to be no different. It is very difficult to land on any rock solid futures bets, but in saying that there is plenty of value on offer. I’d also be cautious around backing Serena Williams at a short quote in futures markets considering the 38 year-old isn’t playing to the standard we’ve become accustomed to. She’s extremely reliant on her big serve and if that fails to fire she looks very vulnerable… But you can never write off a champion!

🔥 Best Bet:

Naomi Osaka (+550)

Bet $100, win $500

At just 22 years old, Osaka has already won two majors and has plenty of upside. Due to a weakened field she’ll likely be one of the top five seeds and has proven that she’s got what it takes to string a whole tournament together. Although she hasn’t been flawless, Osaka has a couple of wins under her belt leading into the tournament and could be building towards something big. We wouldn’t be surprised if she was supported in the market before things get underway. If you agree Osaka can win, you can choose the best legal online sportsbook for you, here.

💰 Value Pick:

Madison Keys (+2000)

Bet $100, win $2000

Keys was bundled out in the first round of the Cincinnati Masters which wasn’t ideal for her preparations. However, her record at the US Open suggests that she is more than capable of contending again this year and could bounce back and make a run at the title. She’s made the Round of 16 each year since 2015, including finishing runner-up in 2017 and making the semi’s in 2018.

🔮 Outsider:

Maria Sakkari (+4000)

Bet $100, win $4000

Sakkari’s Grand Slam record is pretty lean, but this might be the year for the 25 year-old to break through and make a deep run into the second week. She’s played some good tennis over the last few weeks including an impressive win over tournament favorite Serena Williams. With a hint of luck she might be a contender for the title.
