Finally, Week 1 of the NFL is upon us and we're set for an exciting slate of matchups.
Our NFL predictive model has been crunching the numbers and has highlighted the five players most likely to score a touchdown in Week 1. Check them out below.
Ezekiel Elliott ✅
61.6% probability (DAL @ LAR)
The player most likely to score a touchdown in the opening week of the season is superstar Dallas running back, Ezekiel Elliott. The 25-year-old is a threat on the ground and in the air and scored 14 touchdowns last year.
He is their top option at the goal line, and with so much focus on the Cowboys' pass attack in the preseason, Elliott may receive less attention from opposition defenses than he normally does. According to our data, he is a 61.6 percent chance of getting in for six.
Christian McCaffrey ✅
61.3% probability (LV @ CAR)
Christian McCaffrey is arguably the best running back in the game, and our NFL predictor has highlighted him as a 61.3 percent chance of scoring a touchdown. The Panthers star is incredibly versatile, rushing for over 1,300 yards in 2019 but also going for over 1,000 yards in the air. He scored 19 TDs last season and it would be no surprise if he got started with one in the 2020 season opener.
Josh Jacobs ✅✅✅
60.8% probability (LV @ CAR)
Josh Jacobs was excellent last year in what was his first season in the league. We're expecting him to start well in year number two, as the 22-year-old is a 60.8 percent chance of scoring a touchdown in Week 1. The Panthers had a very poor run defense last year, which means Jacobs should be in for a big game.
Saquon Barkley ❌
59.6% probability (PIT @ NYG)
It's crazy to think that this is just Saquon Barkley's third season, as he has already established himself as a superstar of the league. The 23-year-old had an injury-interrupted season in 2019, however, still managed to score eight touchdowns in 13 games. We're expecting him to get off to a great start this season, and you should be able to get decent odds, as the Steelers run defense was solid in 2019.

Dalvin Cook ✅✅
59.2% probability (GB @ MIN)
The final player in our top five for this week is Minnesota running back Dalvin Cook. The 25-year-old had a breakout season in 2019, racking up over 1,100 yards along the ground and scoring 13 touchdowns. Look for him to get the 2020 season started in impressive fashion, with our model calculating him as a 59.2 percent chance of getting in for six against the Packers.
